The ICE KEY is one of the items you’ll need to find as a requirement to properly face the secret boss in DELTARUNE Chapter 3. Fitting a secret, though, this key can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look. It’s also pretty easy to effectively block yourself from earning it early in the game, sadly. However, we’ll help make sure that you don’t miss this one!

How to Get Ice Key For the Secret Boss | DELTARUNE Chapter 3

You can get the Ice Key after the first round of Tenna’s game show. Do be warned, you’ll need to get an S Rank during said round first! To get an S Rank, make sure that you finish the minigame quickly and without taking damage. Also, make sure to keep your TP high at all times.

Alternatively, you can instead opt to get 1500 Points during round 1 instead. It’s easy to get that many by just picking up the infinitely spawning coins from grass. If you do that, you’ll be able to purchase a counterfeit S Rank from a hidden merchant. You can find them south of the Green Room, along the rightmost edge of the area, as shown above. This is only available for round 1, though!

If you’ve progressed far past this point, you’ll need to reset. You can just restart the chapter and fall asleep on the couch right after waking up for the first time. It will take you directly to the game show.

Once you’ve finally managed to get your S Rank by whatever means necessary, head through the S door in the Green Room. It will eventually lead you to a dilapidated hallway with some vending machines and odd NPCs.

Firing Up the Console

Approach the NPC to the left, which is standing right in front of a large door. They will tell you that you can play another minigame if you go through the door, then steps away to let you pass.

Once you go inside, go all the way to the left again to find a big screen with a gaming console. Interact with the console and it will tell you that there’s no controller plugged in.

Return to the previous room and you’ll now see a shimmering star on the floor. Interact with it to pick up the ODDCONTROLLER, then return to the console. It will now work properly, it’s game time!

Time For a Little Gaming

Now that the console’s ready and the game’s playable, start by going as far to the bottom left as possible. You should eventually come across a ladder you can take down, as shown above.

Go down the ladder and then head straight up until you collect your sword. Now, things are about to get grindy! You have to kill as many enemies as possible within the game to level your sword up from Level 1 all the way to Level MAX (Level 4). It will allow you to cut down trees.

Once you can cut trees, go to any room that has trees along the edge of the area and cut them to open a path. Then, just continue cutting down trees and transitioning to other “out of bounds” areas. Any direction works at this point, there’s no set path to follow at all!

Eventually, you’ll come across a red chest, like the one shown above. Chop down trees to make your way up to it and open it up. It contains the ICE KEY! Shortly after picking it up, the console will turn off. You can now just continue the game’s story as normal.

Phew, that took a minute, but that’s all you need to do to get the ICE KEY required for the secret boss in DELTARUNE Chapter 3. We recommend making sure to save before the next round of Tenna’s game show, as you will need an S Rank in round 2 as well.
