Following the glint that some walls will make, you should be able to dig out some ore, with the copper one being fairly common. To turn copper ore into copper bars, you’ll need to craft a furnace at a crafting table.

To make a furnace, you’ll need 20 Dirt Wall and 10 wood. Once you’ll have it, place the copper ore inside it to smelt it into bars, giving you access to some more advanced tools, like the aforementioned lantern.
