Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has evolved quite a bit since launch. Since then, a bunch of balance patches, new characters, and harder endgame activities such as the Abyss have been introduced.

Needless to say, what used to be the strategy back then won’t be as effective in the current meta. While some units are still excellent investments, several newer characters have either overtaken them or opened up much stronger team compositions.

Resources are still extremely limited, especially if you’re an F2P player. As such, knowing who is actually worth investing in versus who looks good on paper but underdelivers in practice makes a real difference in how smoothly your progression goes.

In this guide, I will cover the best characters you can invest in based on the current meta. We’ll look at factors like long-term value, overall versatility, and performance.

Best Characters to Invest In

Back then, there were only five characters worth investing in. Now, there are several standout characters that are worth prioritizing depending on your team setup and progress. Here’s who you should include in your roster:

Jericho

Jericho Seven Deadly Sins Origin

Jericho not only looks cool but can deal a lot of damage too. She is an ideal character to have as your party’s main DPS. I would recommend using her Dual Swords build as one of her skills, Weapon Enchantment, which allows her to teleport behind an enemy to deal 15% more damage for 10 seconds.

Her ultimate move, Ice Needle, also deals a ton of damage. The damage is increased even further if you use it together with Weapon Enchantment.

Alternatively, you can also use her with the Lance build. In addition to the damage she does, she can also provide her allies with a Barrier equal to 20% of max HP for 20 seconds through her Ice Rock skill.

Meanwhile, her ultimate skill, Ice Field, now freezes enemies for 6 seconds, allowing you to rack up serious damage before the ice breaks.

That said, she’s no longer the uncontested queen like she was during the first few weeks of the game. Nonetheless, she’s still a very strong character in terms of DPS. Of course, in my opinion, she’s still absolutely worth investing in, especially if you enjoy her playstyle.

Meliodas

Meliodas Seven Deadly Sins Origin

As the main character of the anime, Meliodas was always going to be good, and he absolutely delivers. He is perfectly suited to be your party’s main DPS.

In the current meta, Meliodas’s Dual Swords setup is the most popular choice due to how absurd its sustained damage output is, paired with Hellfire stacking. He scales extremely well into harder content and can fit into almost every team composition.

Meliodas also has the Captain’s Acumen adventure skill, which allows you to double jump and run on walls. This is pretty useful in getting around the map.

The main reason why Meliodas still remains absolutely worth investing in is that he performs well in both short fights and extended encounters. While many new characters outperform him in niche situations, only a few are as universally reliable as he is.

King

King Seven Deadly Sins Origin

King remains one of the strongest support characters in the game even after the meta moved away from pure Earth stacking.

You will be mainly using him in the Wand build. His passive Fairy’s Protection gives your team massive attack and defense buffs. But that is not all, his Fairy Power skill grants the team Forest Fairy for 40 seconds. This greatly increases the Earth damage dealt by your team.

King also has a useful traversal skill like Meliodas called Flight. With this, you can fly to a specific location at high speed. His buffs, utility, and overall consistency are what make him incredibly valuable for almost every type of content in the game.

Tristan

Tristan Seven Deadly Sins Origin

Tristan has quickly become one of the highest-value units in the current meta thanks to his combination of damage, utility, and team flexibility.

He performs especially well in sustained combat and harder content due to his survivability. Unlike some characters that rely heavily on elemental synergy, Tristan fits comfortably into multiple team archetypes without losing his effectiveness.

If you are starting fresh today, Tristan is easily one of the best long-term investments you can make.

Escanor

Escanor Seven Deadly Sins Origin

Last but definitely not least, we have Escanor.

Escanor’s popularity exploded after recent balance and endgame content updates. His damage ceiling is absurd when properly built, especially in burst-oriented teams.

However, what makes Escanor particularly valuable is that he performs exceptionally well in Abyss and high-pressure boss content where fights are decided quickly. While he requires a bit more setup compared to Meliodas, his payoff is massive.

The only caveat is that he’s not as beginner-friendly as Meliodas. Hence, if you’re new to the game, you might be better off building around Meliodas in the early game.

Wrapping Up

That covers the best characters to invest in at the Seven Deadly Sins: Origin.

While early tier lists heavily pushed Earth compositions with Diane and Elaine, the current meta is much more flexible after balance changes and newer character additions. Now, team setups focus more on burst windows, sustained DPS, and overall versatility rather than pure elemental stacking.

If you want a broader look at where every character in the game stands, check out my full tier list. It covers the entire launch roster so you know exactly who is worth having on the team and who is better left alone.
