Once you hit 50 pulls on the Standard Banner in NTE, the game hands you a free S rank selector and lets you pick one character from the standard pool. The selector does not expire so there is no pressure to use it immediately, and honestly you probably should not. You have six options to choose from. Sakiri, Baicang, Hathor, Fadia, Daffodill and Jiuyuan are all on the table, each filling a different role and suiting different team compositions.
The right pick depends entirely on what your roster already looks like and what team you are building toward. That said, some options are significantly better for most accounts than others, regardless of what you have already pulled. In this guide, I will mention the best S rank characters to choose so you can make the most of selectors.
Which Free S Rank Characters to Choose?
NTE gives you a free S rank selector after completing 50 pulls on the Standard Banner. On top of that, the game handed out an additional free selector to all players on May 3rd 2026. Before you use either of them though, make sure you complete all your available pulls on the Standard Banner first.
The reason for this is simple. If you use a selector on a character and then pull that same character as a duplicate from the banner, you have essentially wasted one of your selectors. By pulling first and selecting after, you can see exactly what you already have and then use both selectors to fill in the gaps. No matter how things shake out, having two selectors on top of your natural banner pulls means you are walking away with at least three out of the six standard S rank characters completely for free.
Sakiri
Sakiri should be the first S rank character you target with one of your selectors. She is a support character, which already makes her a safer long term investment than a DPS pick since supports are significantly harder to powercreep and tend to stay relevant across multiple versions of the game.
Her kit revolves around grouping enemies together and keeping them controlled, which makes her genuinely useful in both mob clearing and boss situations rather than just excelling in one area. On top of her crowd control, she brings solid team wide buffs that make every other character on your roster hit harder.
This includes a 30% attack boost to the entire team, a 10% or more defense decrease on enemies she targets, and additional utility that compounds the more you invest into your main DPS. The stronger your carry gets, the more value Sakiri provides alongside them, which is exactly the kind of character you want anchoring your team for the long haul.
Jiuyuan
The next character I would recommend going after with your second selector is Jiuyuan. Her passive increases the number of Vita Buds your team can spawn on the field and raises the maximum cap from 3 all the way up to 6. On top of that, every time your team triggers the Blossom reaction with her on the roster, you generate 2 Vita Buds instead of 1.
That is a significant quality of life boost that compounds naturally as you play. Her second passive makes enemies take 15% more Anima damage. This alone makes her incredibly valuable in any Anima focused team since that damage amplification applies to every hit landing on the target. Jiuyuan also has the potential to function as your main DPS depending on how you build her.
She slots naturally into Anima team compositions and gets even more out of her kit when paired with other Anima characters. If you already have Nanally on your team or are planning to pull for her, Jiuyuan becomes an even stronger pick. Nanally’s constant damage output allows you to stack Jiuyuan’s passive faster. This triggers her Lethal Rose Pact bullets more frequently and pushes her damage output into genuinely impressive territory.
Daffodil | Fadia
If you naturally pulled either Sakiri or Jiuyuan from your 90 pulls on the Standard Banner, you will have one selector remaining. At that point the two best options to consider are Daffodill and Fadia. Which one you go for comes down to what your team needs more.
Daffodill is a break focused DPS who specializes in destroying enemy stances quickly. Getting an enemy’s stance broken opens them up to significantly increased damage from your whole team. She has a relatively low field time requirement as well which makes her easy to fit into most rotations without disrupting your main DPS uptime. She is also essential for activating the Scorch debuff which is a requirement for a number of Incantation team compositions.
On the other hand, Fadia fills a completely different role as a defensive anchor for your team. Her kit redirects a portion of the incoming damage that your teammates receive directly onto herself instead. This effectively acts as a persistent shield for your entire roster and massively increases your team’s overall survivability in tougher content. She also has a built in safety net that instantly fully charges her ultimate when her HP drops to a critical level. This lets her unleash a massive heal and counterattack at the exact moment your team needs it most.
If you are struggling with survivability in harder content, Fadia is the pick. If your team already survives well and you want more damage throughput, go with Daffodill.

Wrapping Up
That covers the best options available in the NTE free S rank selector and who to prioritize based on your account situation. The selector is one of the most impactful freebies the game gives you and with two of them currently available, most players have a real opportunity to lock in a strong foundation without spending anything. Sakiri and Jiuyuan cover the most ground for the widest range of accounts, but every character on the list has a place depending on what your roster needs.
Once you have your free S ranks sorted and your team is starting to take shape, the next step is figuring out how to actually put them together in the most effective way.
