In many ways, Atelier Sophie 2 brings the series back to its roots. This means a more slow-paced battle system compared to Atelier Ryza, a different alchemy system and a bigger focus on your character’s progression. So, let’s take a look at how exactly that progression works.

On the surface, leveling up in Atelier Sophie 2 works similarly to other jRPGs. Each fight you win gives experience points, dependent on the enemies you’ve defeated. Once you’ve accumulated enough, you’ll gain a new level, which will cause the statistics of your characters to raise automatically. But it will also reward you with one more thing – Ability Points

Ability Points

Ability Points are used in the Ability menu to buy new, useful skills that have a variety of helpful effects. Some give percental stat boosts, but others can also improve your gathering capacity or unlock new items and recipes used in crafting. But, with the amount of possibilities, you might notice that Ability Points gained through leveling up are simply not enough to get everything. Fortunately, there’s one more way to get them.

Party Quests

You can get Ability Points by doing Party quests, given by your party members. These are usually pretty simple, ranging from tasks like fighting a certain enemy type enough times or doing alchemy with one of your comrades. By doing these, you should earn enough points to get every ability you want.
