Bytes are an important currency you can acquire in Astroneer. You will need them to buy or unlock new schematics. And if you are planning to unlock all of them, you’ll want to have a lot of bytes.

Luckily, there are several ways to earn bytes, from researching objects in the Research Chamber to gathering Research Samples from various resources.

However, if you want a far more efficient means of getting bytes, then a renewable bytes farm is the best option. In this guide, we’ll talk about just that.

How to Farm Renewable Bytes in Astroneer

Luckily, if you’re looking for a renewable means of farming bytes, there’s actually a solution. This is done by scanning Research Samples on rocks and plants around the planet. However, they can only give you a few bytes.

If you want more, you can instead take them and then place them in the Research Chamber. This way, you’ll get about 3x the bytes amount than you would normally.
