Animal Shelter Simulator: Beginner’s Guide

First off, you have to understand the basic goal of the game. As you might have surmised, you run an animal shelter. You take animals, take care of them and get them ready to be adopted by a loving family. We’ll go over every step of the process giving you tips to take care of your animals.

One first tip: if you ever find yourself unsure how to progress, there’s a list of tasks on the top left of the screen.

Taking Animals In

For your first day, go to your office and click on the computer. Select the “pets to take in” option and you’ll see a list of available animals. You can only take care of one for now, as you’re just starting out. The animal will be delivered in a van. Take them in and take them to their proper quarters. Dogs and cats have different quarters.

Check the Charts

Every animal has a chart that denotes all of its current stats and needs. Things such as thirst, health, adaptability, special traits, and the like. Familiarize yourself with these charts as they are key to knowing how to make the animal happier and healthier. Special traits will earn you bonuses if they align with a potential owner’s wants.

Feed and Groom Animals

From your computer, you can buy things such as food and other supplies. These are delivered by drones. Open the delivery boxes and take the things you bought. For things like food, you’ll want to have it in your inventory and then go to your pet’s kennel. Hold the food or water and pour it into the proper bowls. Your pets will eat and drink whenever they need. Make sure their bowls remain full.

Sometimes, animals might be injured or dirty. That’s when you’ll have to groom them. The game will be pretty helpful and tell you which things to buy and do when this happens. Make sure you keep your animals healthy and clean to increase their happiness.

Pet and Play With Animals

You can go up to any of your animals and click to pet them. This will make them happier and increase their trust in you. You can also take animals out of their kennels and into more open spaces and play with them. This also increases their happiness and trust.

Put Animals up for Adoption

Once animals reach a certain level of adaptability, you have to take a photo of them. You’ll need to buy a camera from your computer first. When you take a good enough photo, you can use it to put up ads to find potential new owners for an animal. Scan the picture at your computer. Then select the animal you wish to put up for adoption and click on “create ad”. Choose the picture you just scanned and confirm by clicking on create ad again.

Now on your computer, you’ll get submissions from potential owners. You can send employees for inspection, which will check for things such as the potential owner’s house and other conditions. If you wish to allow them to adopt, click on the Match button. If you wish to reject the application, just click on discard and wait for another one. Wait after matching and a van will come to pick up the desired animal and take them to their new family.

That’s pretty much the gist of the game’s basics and the overall process of getting an animal adopted. Make sure to take care of all of the animals’ needs and you’ll have an easy time finding them happy new homes.
