“A Sailor’s Letter” is one of the Exploration Codex entries for the Windhill Shores region in Throne & Liberty.

This Exploration Codex quest starts when you happen upon a letter in a bottle near a shipwreck. The letter, written by a desperate stranded sailor, seems to hint toward a survivor of the shipwreck. Find the stranded sailor and get to the bottom of this story!

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to complete every step of the “A Sailor’s Letter” Exploration Codex.

A Sailor’s Letter Exploration Codex | Throne & Liberty Guide

To start the “A Sailor’s Letter” Exploration Codex quest in Throne & Liberty, go to the shipwreck near Spiral Cliff in the Windhill Shores region. We’ve marked its spot on the map above for you.

Once you reach the area, look around the shore to find a Letter in a Bottle. Pick it up and read it to get the next objective.

Now, you need to find the Stranded Sailor who wrote this letter. Based on the Letter in a Bottle, he should be on an island far to the east of the Spiral Cliff area. The game tells you to either board the Marind all the back at the Kastleton Port, or to just swim toward the island. We highly recommend just swimming there.

However, if you do wish to board the Marind, we’ve marked the Kastleton Port location on the map above.

Either way, once you reach the island you’ll need to climb up the sides of the cliffs until you reach the very top. We won’t lie, this can be extremely cumbersome and janky, but it’s definitely doable. Look out for the many grapple points along the cliffside and use them.

Once you reach the top of the island, look around for the Stranded Sailor… who seems to have long since passed away. However, there’s A Sailor’s Letter next to him. Pick it up and read it.

Finding the Shipwreck’s Treasure

The Stranded Sailor’s letter talks about a certain Harnie and also reveals that there’s a treasure on a tiny island nearby. The island is directly west of where you find the Stranded Sailor and his letter, as you can see on the map above. The easiest way to get there is to just jump off the cliff and use a Glide Morph, then swim if you need to.

When you reach the tiny island, look for a treasure chest. It will be titled “Treasure Chest from the Shipwreck”. Open it up and you’ll unlock the Chestacean Polymorph! However, that’s not the end of the “A Sailor’s Letter” Exploration Codex quest in Throne & Liberty.

Meeting With Harnie

You now need to go all the way back to Kastleton. Considering you’re in the middle of the sea after opening the treasure chest, we recommend teleporting to the Kastleton Waypoint. Either way, make your way to the Lord’s Residence in the northeastern corner of Kastleton.

Go inside the Lord’s Residence and look for Lord’s Aide Dave. He seems to walk around the residence instead of staying in a single place, but the game marks him with a blue star-shaped icon so you should have no trouble finding him.

When you find Dave, talk with him and ask him “Who’s Harnie?”. He’ll reveal she’s the wife of a sailor who disappeared about 10 years ago. Indeed, she’s the Stranded Sailor’s wife!

Now, your final step in this Exploration Codex quest is to meet up with Harnie and tell her about her husband’s fate. You can find her at the Kastleton Memorial Hall in the northwestern corner of Kastleton.

Harnie will be at her husband’s grave in the Kastleton Memorial Hall. Talk with her and deliver her husband’s final letter to her. You’ll also automatically give back her necklace, which you automatically picked up earlier in the quest. It’s not the happiest ending, but at least Harnie has some closure on her husband’s fate now…

But well, there you have it, that’s everything you need to do to complete the “A Sailor’s Letter” Exploration Codex quest in Throne and Liberty. This is only one of the Exploration Codexes for the Windhill Shores region, however. There’s also the “Unidentified Contaminant” Exploration Codex quest.
