Everything You Need to Know | Palia: Elderwood Expansion Update
How to Enter the Elderwood
The first and most important thing is, of course, how to enter the brand-new Elderwood region. For that, you need to go to the northwesternmost corner of the Bahari Bay region. As shown above, it’s right in the B2 quadrant of the map. Once you get there, you will find a large door that you can go through to enter the new region!
However, it’s also worth noting that the developers have a list of story quests they recommend finishing first. This is to ensure that you’re all caught up and have access to the Elderwood main story quests, which unlock additional mechanics. Here’s the full list of quests you should complete:
Vault of the Waves
Vault of the Flames
Vault of the Gales
Vault of the Roots
Troubled Waters
Into the Fire
Up in the Air
Rooted In Place
That aside, you’ll also find a variety of Guide quests marked on your map in the Elderwood region. It’s recommended to do these as soon as you can, as they are tutorials for the region’s exclusive mechanics and content.
Do note, however, the Night Sky Bundles aren’t necessary for progression in the Elderwood region.
Unlock the Stables!
One of the first things you should do in the Elderwood region, aside from what we’ve mentioned before, is to find all of the Stables. There are a total of 5 Stables in the region, and interacting with them all will unlock Fast Travel for the entire region. On top of that, you’ll get the Stables Sign recipe!
You can craft the Stables Sign at a Worktable and place it within your own plot. This will allow you to fast travel straight from your plot to the Central Stables of any of the other regions, such as the Elderwood itself.
One of the main new resources you’ll find as you explore the Elderwood is the Infected Essence. Its raw form generally manifests as floating purple orbs, such as the one shown above. You’ll require this Infected Essence for many things in Elderwood, such as buying things from Tamala’s Shop.
Additionally, gathering targets such as trees and critters can also be covered in this purple Infected Essence. You won’t be able to gather from them at first, but you’ll be taught how to do it during the “The Nature of Shadows” main quest. We highly recommend doing that quest as soon as you can!
Artifacts and Relics
One of the main things you need to know about as you explore the Elderwood region in Palia is the new Artifacts and Relics system.
You can find Artifacts mainly from looting the daily-spawning rummage piles. Worth noting, however, that the Elderwood’s rummage piles are different from other regions as they require a Fine Hoe to dig them. Using the Artifact Trackeris a great way to spot these piles!
Aside from the rummage piles, though, you can also randomly get Artifacts by offering Sacred Flowers to the Umbraan Shrines dotted around the region.
When you find Artifacts, trade them to Elouisa at the Elderwood Central Stables to earn Elouisa’s Fun Bucks. You can, in turn, trade these fun bucks at the Central Stables to get the schematics for Relics.
Relics are a new type of equipment that provides a passive buff to you and any other players in your party. They provide some great buffs for exploring the region, such as giving you the ability to track infected gatherables or the ability to directly interact with the infected without special tools. We definitely recommend using them!
Customize Your Plot Even More
Another notable addition with the Elderwood expansion to Palia that you need to know about is the improved plot customization.
First of all, the Decor Item limit of 3000 items has been raised to 3500 items. It’s a pretty sizeable increase, allowing you to put the finishing touches on your plot!
On top of that, there is also of course a large variety of brand-new Decor and Furniture items to find. Most of them require a lot of exploration, too, giving you more reasons to fully check every nook and cranny of the Elderwood region. If you want to know more, we have a guide on how to unlock all the new Elderwood furniture items!
As an aside, it’s not just the plot that has better customization now, either. Character Customization has also been expanded with a lot of new makeups, skin colors, hairstyles, and more!
That’s all of the main key features you need to know about for the Elderwood expansion update in Palia. There’s still a lot more to find, with all the brand-new resources and quests the Elderwood brings! But, those are things that are better left for you to discover at your own pace, right? Time to go exploring, Palians.
