If you want to keep your hard-earned Fons in Neverness to Everness, it might be good for you to just start stealing!

Yes, you read that right. It can be easy to miss, with everything NTE has to offer, but you can actually straight up steal things from any shop. While you can’t steal everything, you can save a lot of Fons by taking advantage of it.

In this guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to know to steal from shops without any punishment!

How to Steal and Stop Spending Fons

First of all, you can only steal from shops when you find an item with a red border. You can see an example of such an item with an Asahi Inori doll at a DSD shop above. Just interact with it to start the stealing minigame.

Now, the stealing minigame itself is quite simple. You’ll see the clerk as well as two text prompts. The clerk will sporadically switch from looking straight at you and looking down.

When the clerk is looking down, you’ll need to pick one of the two text prompts. These options are always randomized, but make sure to pick ones that say things like “take it” or “give it a firm squeeze.”

It’s worth noting that some of the options are a bit more aggressive than others. Those seem to make the clerk look at you more often, but you don’t get instantly caught. Still, picking calmer options is generally safer.

After a few text prompts, you should get a final prompt that says something like “take it as if nothing happened.” Once you pick that, you’ll be done with the minigame and will acquire the item you targeted.

However, you’re not done yet! As you’ll notice, there’s a demon icon above your character’s head. Quickly rush out of the shop to get rid of this icon and clear suspicion.

With that final step, you’re done! You’ve stolen some goodies, managing to keep your Fons. This is particularly important for some items, like the aforementioned Asahi Inori doll. Those cost 45,000 Fons a pop, so you save a lot of money by just stealing.

But what do you do if something goes wrong and you get caught?

What to do When Caught

If you manage to mess up at some point in the minigame and the clerk catches you, they’ll ask you to pay for the item. Of course, doing so means you lose your Fons, which is what we’re trying to avoid in the first place!

Now, one thing you can simply do at this point is just close the game. ALT + F4 on PC, close it from the Control Center on your PS5, or force close the app on mobile.

Once you log back in, you’ll be back at the shop. However, the clerk will have forgotten your misdeeds, and you’ll get to keep your Fons too!

Alternatively, you can also just open up the Map and Teleport to any available fast travel point.

Fun fact: you can open it by clicking on one of the listed Sources at the bottom of your stolen item’s description. Pretty cheeky, right? The clip below shows an example of this.

Amusingly, you’ll also get to keep the stolen item with either of these methods. So, you’ll basically suffer absolutely no punishment, even if you failed the shoplifting minigame.

So, there you have it! That’s all you need to know to be able to keep your Fons in Neverness to Everness by just stealing items from shops. While there are some limitations to what you can steal, and you can’t sell stolen items, it’s a great way to get some expensive goods for free!
