Lies of P: Overture is a DLC that also works as a prequel to the beloved Pinocchio-based game. With this DLC, you are obviously going to be squaring off with a lot of new enemies and bosses. There are a handful of bosses to encounter throughout the story of this DLC, and one of them is called the Anguished Guardian of the Ruins. Here is a quick guide showing one way you can beat it.
Lies of P Overture: Anguished Guardian of the Ruins Weaknesses
Before you get into it, the Anguished Guardian of the Ruins has a glaring weakness in that it is extremely vulnerable to fire. As such, adjust your setup to maximize that damage type so that you can defeat it as fast as possible and move on with the rest of the game.
If you have it, consider using the Flamberge arm to get as much fire damage going as possible. Try to upgrade a Salamander Dagger Blade as well, as this will let you ignite the boss with your attacks.
As for your amulets, you can consider using the following if you have them as well:
Carcass Butcher’s Amulet – Increases the damage you deal to carcasses.
Iron Wall Amulet – Increases your physical damage reduction rate, which can come in handy if you find yourself making mistakes or just missing blocks in general.
Assassin’s Amulet – Increases your critical attack chance, which can help speed up the fight if it ever procs.
Survival Amulet – Simply allows you to roll instead of a normal dodge motion while locked on to the boss.
It is up to you whether you use these amulets or not. The most important part is that you get as much fire damage as you can muster up, as that is what will carry you through it. If you have any other consumable items that can help with that, consider bringing them along for the fight too.
When it comes to actually fighting the boss, try to get close to it and stay there as much as possible. This will make the fight a little comfier than if you were to run around. Its attacks are not that hard to block, but watch out for his red glowing move.
You can lock on to the boss’ head or hands, and you should keep that in mind at all times. With proper positioning, you can use your Flamberge to deal a significant amount of damage to both its head and one of its hands.
If you are struggling with its attacks, especially the one where it glows red, take your time and play defensively to get used to its movements. You will eventually find that it is actually fairly predictable in its patterns.
After a while, the boss will enter a second phase, which will involve new attacks. Its new moves are varying types of lasers that have a very long range. As such, the ideal strategy is to actually stand very close to the boss so that you can wail on it as it fires.
Focus on theboss’ hands during this phase, as they become incredibly easy to hit as you avoid the lasers. Just keep an eye on the boss’ head movements, as it can aim from side to side or straight forward.
That is really all there is to the fight. Continue blocking or trying to parry the red glowing attack to stagger it, as this gives you a huge window of opportunity to strike its weak spots, preferably with a burning arm that hits two parts at once.
If you have a specter helping you out in this fight, make sure to keep your distance during the second phase. The boss can target either of you, and with how much range it has, sticking close to your specter can lead to you taking unnecessary damage when you least expect it.
And that is a wrap for this boss, which is extremely easy once you understand its elemental weakness and how you can continuously stagger it or just avoid big damage in general by properly defending against the red attacks.
While you are here, consider checking out our guide on how to beat Arlecchino, The Blood artist in Lies of P: Overture. He is the final boss of the DLC, so you are probably going to need some help with that soon enough if you found yourself reading this.
He is a writer and avid gamer who spends a lot of his free time looking for the next game to add to his collection. If he’s not busy working, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game.
