Wuthering Waves: Is The Battle Pass Worth It? – 1.0 Version

Unlock cool and new exclusive items!

Wuthering Waves is an open-world Gacha game that came out in May 2024. It’s a free-to-play RPG that has often been compared to the likes of Genshin Impact. This action-packed game offers its own unique take on the battle pass system called The Pioneer Podcast.

It works similarly to other battle pass systems where the more you play, the more progress you will make towards it, leading you to earn more rewards. This reward system helps keep the players engaged and excited towards the game on a consistent medium to long-term basis.

The Pioneer Podcast

The Pioneer Podcast usually lasts for the duration of a Version patch or about 40 days. It features free and premium rewards at each level ending at level 70. These rewards include weapon and resonator upgrade materials, shell credits, as well as cooking and crafting items.

The free rewards are unlockable for everyone who plays, while the premium rewards can only be accessed by purchasing the Insider Channel. There is also a Connoisseur Channel, which offers all the rewards available within the Insider Channel, as well as some additional rewards on top of it.

If you happen to be new to Wuthering Waves, make sure you check out our guide on what to prioritise in the early game. We look at all the essentials that you need to know going into the game.

Is the Battlepass Worth It?

The quick and simple answer is yes, but only if you are willing to invest the time into it. While you do get end up getting some amazing rewards, the battle pass does require you to play a lot.

This means regularly doing your daily missions, completing the weekly boss fights, and participating in seasonal events, to progress as quickly as possible towards the completion of the podcast. Otherwise, it is not advisable to purchase the Insider or Connoisseur channel.

But I will say though, if you’ve started playing Wuthering a bit late, it might not be the best idea to invest in the battle pass, considering you won’t be able to level it up in time to get all those rewards.

If you did start playing early, you can get the battle pass late, because what level you’re on the Public Channel, you’ll unlock the rewards for the Insider Channel up to that level.

Insider Channel vs. Connoisseur Channel

The Insider channel and the Connisseur channel with their price and unique rewards.

The Insider Channel, which is priced at $10, is likely the most worth-it option. It gives you access to Astrite, Wuthering Waves’ most premium in-game currency. However, the best reward in the Insider channel is a choice of 1 out of 5 exclusive 4-star weapons on podcast level 30. These are among the best 4-star weapons in the entire game, so they can definitely give you an edge in combat. The choices you didn’t select can be unlocked in subsequent premium battle passes.

If you want access to all the premium rewards, but would also like to skip some of the grind, then the Connoisseur Channel may be the right option for you. You will get the benefit of 10 instantly unlocked Pioneer Podcast levels, leaving you with only 60 levels to progress through. You will also be able to unlock exclusive rewards such as Jinzhou Record Sigil and Gilded Ginkgo. It is very pricey though, as $20 for a 40-day battlepass is a steep price.

The Best Option

Quests that you can complete to level up the battlepass.

Ultimately, it is up to you to decide which option is most suitable for you, given the time and financial resources available to you. For most people, the Insider Channel is the better of the two premium options. It gives you access to the same rewards at half the price, given you put in the time. If you are someone who doesn’t have a lot of time, then the Connoisseur pass is surely the best option.
