After Hypixel managed to successfully recover Hytale from Riot Games, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme didn’t waste time telling their plans for the game going forward.
Back then, he addressed fans who were wondering when the game would go into early access, claiming that the game was “not good enough” to go into early access.
However, it seems that that’s no longer the case, as we’re finally getting a release date of an early access for Hytale, and it’s actually pretty soon.

On Hytale’s official account in X (formerly Twitter), they posted an image showing Hytale going on early access, and the exact date is January 13, 2026. Moreover, they added a comment saying that those who want to pre-order the game will be able to do so come December 13, 2025.
At the same time, Hypixel Studios added a disclaimer saying:
“This is true early access, meaning it’s still very much unfinished and will be buggy for a while, but you have the team’s commitment to make Hytale the game we’ve always wanted it to be.”
Hypixel also told players that early access before the holidays wasn’t possible due to the time it took for them to complete the acquisition. It’s for this reason that the announcement of an early access date took so long.
Hytale is Finally Going Early Access on January 13, 2026
This disclaimer is in line with what Collins-Laflamme said back then. According to Collins-Laflamme, the plan is to get the game out as soon as possible, even if it comes with rough edges.
And at the same time, he’s hoping that the community will help them shape the game into something truly special.
Right after the acquisition, Hypixel revealed that they’re going back to the legacy engine instead of using Riot Game’s engine, which would make it take even longer to release the game in early access.
A few weeks ago, Hypixel revealed a gameplay video of Hytale featuring a bunch of combat and movement mechanics.
Throughout the video (shown above), you can see some familiar stuff, as some features were heavily inspired by a bunch of Minecraft mods. There are even creation tools that are once again inspired by Minecraft’s creative mode.
It won’t be long before we’ll finally be able to experience the gameplay that we’ve seen so far. We can’t wait to see how the game will develop over time.
