After Hytale finally went back into the hands of its original creator, Hypixel Studios, eager fans of the game were wondering whether or not the game would go into Early Access.

This is after Riot Games sold Hytale back to Hypixel Studios just five months after the company revealed they would no longer make any development for the project.

To this end, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme addressed Hytale’s fans, saying that at its current state, the game is not “good enough” to release in Early Access. And even when it does, it will be barebones and have lots of bugs, as what an early access title is expected to be.

In his interview with AntVenom, Collins-Laflamme asked fans to manage their expectations, as a lot of features will be missing in the game when it launches in early access.

“There will be bugs and it will feel like real early access. We will need the community to help us move forward,” says Collins-Laflamme.

In other words, the game isn’t ready to go early access yet, because as Collins-Laflamme stated, it’s not in a good enough position to do so.

Hypixel Studios Will Need the Help of the Community to Improve Hytale

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Collins-Laflamme shared his thoughts about the game’s state:

He further reiterated that the goal will be to shape the game as they go.

“I’m releasing this game half cooked and will fix it over time. No more waiting,” comments Collins-Laflamme.

Collins-Laflamme also emphasized that the roadmap for Hytale will evolve based on player feedback. They plan on remaining as flexible as possible, all while avoiding any promises they won’t be able to keep.

He also noted that the cross-platform engine by Riot Games is way behind in gameplay. As such, it will likely take them around two years to even reach early access.

Meanwhile, the legacy engine that their team is using is already playable and has lots of systems and other elements in place. However, it’s still unpolished.

When the game goes into early access, players should expect a lot of rough edges and bugs. Hypixel is encouraging the community to get involved in the development of the game by reporting issues and more.

As of now, the team hasn’t revealed a date for Hytale’s early access yet, but with how things are, we might be able to get it soon enough.
