It’s required to craft the Ice Crystal Staff, which is one of the very few ways to cast magic currently available. Still a work in progress weapon, however, but it’s nice to have some magic at all!
In this quick guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to get Sapphires.
Where to Find Sapphires in Hytale
There are a few spots where you can find Sapphires. The first and simplest one is on the snowy mountains in the Whisperfrost Frontiers region. They look like the example shown above on the map.

While rare, you can sometimes spot blue glowing crystals around that region. The largest of these crystals will drop Sapphires when mined, if you’re lucky!
Another good spot is to explore the ocean floor, particularly near the Whisperfrost Frontiers (snow) and Devastated Lands (volcano) regions.
The ocean floor is lined with all sorts of ores and precious stones. Of course, Sapphire is no exception to this rule! So, you can find them there, too.
As a tip for oxygen management while underwater, you can refresh your oxygen by mining into cliffs and the like. Make a hole that’s 2-3 blocks tall and get into it. Water can’t get in if you dig in from the side, creating an air pocket for you!
Lastly, but definitely not least, you can also find Sapphires on the Gold Block piles in the Devastated Lands. You can spot them on your map, as shown in the example above.
The region is dangerous, and most of these Gold Block piles are inside volcanoes, though! Prepare well before going for this one.
With that said, though, these Gold Piles always have a guaranteed assortment of Sapphires around them. It’s the most reliable source, provided you can brave the dangers of the region!
