Going out for a fancy dinner, to the movies, or a walk in the park may sound romantic. But what if we told you it could be better? That’s right, imagine spending time with your SO doing everyone’s favorite activity – gaming!

Today, we’re bringing you a list of the top 10 video games you can play with your girlfriend (gamers have girlfriends…change our minds) and enjoy an equally romantic evening.

Be it slaying dragons in an immersive RPG, shooting foes in a thrilling FPS, or simply building a nice romantic cottage in the wild. We got you covered. Dive right in as we unveil the first game on our top 10 list!

1. Fall Guys

Fall Guys is certainly one of those silly battle-royale games that puts you right in the heart of action as you jump, run, and well…fall over and over again until you beat the other 40 players in the lobby with you.

Being an online multiplayer game, Fall Guys belongs on this list, especially considering how funny these jellybeans can be! Don on a silly costume (let your girlfriend choose) and jump right in as the ridiculousness unfolds. As we all know, the key to a woman’s heart is laughter!

2. Castle Crashers

Talking about iconic games, Castle Crashers makes the list. However, this isn’t your typical iconic games list, this is solid dating advice delivered to you by professionals. Self-proclaimed professionals, but professionals nonetheless.

If you’re by any chance familiar with this game, it means you should have been married by now. For the younger audience, Castle Crashers is your not-so-ordinary indie game, delivering “beat’em up” mechanics in thrilling boss fights. We recommend trying this game with your significant other and watching as she laughs at the ridiculous facial expressions of our loveable knights!

3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Let’s face it, we all knew this game was bound to end up on this list. Who doesn’t love Mario Kart? If your SO doesn’t, we recommend getting a divorce or something…at least break up…you don’t need that kind of toxicity in your life.

All jokes aside, Mario Kart is an amazing multiplayer game you can enjoy with your SO (with whom you definitely shouldn’t break up over a video game) and enjoy some healthy competition. For reasons unknown, girlfriends are and will always be better than you in Mario Kart. This is basic gamer knowledge aka Miyamoto’s 3rd Law of Mario Kart.

Perhaps it’s for the best that she wins, happy wife, happy life!

4. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)

NFS: MW

Ever wondered if your girlfriend is the one? Lucky for you, there is a foolproof way of making sure she is the right match for you. Please note that three things could happen once you show her this game:

  1. She recognizes it instantly – in which case you marry her on the spot, no two ways about it.
  2. She doesn’t recognize it but loves it – means she has taste, and is a classy woman. In this case, you should strive for marriage with her.
  3. She neither recognizes it nor loves it – we did say this is a test. Test of your love for her. Different opinions are okay and we should learn to respect one another!

P.S. Did you expect a brief explanation of this game? If you did then consider yourself lucky! Experiencing this game for the first time can only be explained as – magic. Thank us later.

5. Minecraft

Minecraft

At the beginning of this article, we mentioned building a cottage in the wilderness suited for your girlfriend’s needs. Well, Minecraft is the go-to option for you two. This open-world-exploration-build-hack-and-slash-fish-mine-watch-cows-reproduce kind of game is an all-time classic!

The beauty of this game lies in the fact that you can build quite literally anything. If you’re creative enough that is. And it can be played with friends! Or in this case, girlfriend-s. We recommend trying it out!

6. It Takes Two

It Takes Two

It Takes Two should probably be higher on this list purely because of its two-player character. The game is designed so that it requires two players to play using a split-screen view.

The beauty of this game lies in its problem-solving narrative which requires both players to work together to overcome challenges and beat the game. An ideal combination for you and your partner to see how either of you thinks and acts!

7. Overcooked

Does your girlfriend enjoy stressful games that test both your and her patience? Do you enjoy working under pressure? Do you enjoy being judged? If you answered yes to all of these questions, then Overcooked is the game for you!

Watch the action unfold as orders keep coming in and chaos ensues with each passing level. As one reader testified:

“Like I have beat SoulsBorne games many times over with ease but Overcooked is just unnecessarily difficult.”

8. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is one of those indie simulator RPGs that immerses you in a world of relaxation and zen. You play a character who inherits a farm from his late grandfather. The game then allows you and your girlfriend to work together to cultivate crops, raise domestic animals, cook, mine, fish, and more to build your perfect farm. One of our top picks!

9. Portal 2

Portal 2 is one of the more iconic games that just so happens to be on every top 10 list since its release. It’s just that good! This puzzle-solving game requires players to work together to pass levels and advance further as levels become exponentially more difficult.

Why play with your girlfriend? The game requires you to depend on each other teaching valuable life lessons!

10. Cuphead

Cuphead

This iconic run-and-gun game is often described as one of the more frustrating and difficult games on the market at the moment. Nevertheless, it is enjoyed by millions of players so far and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Cuphead is one of those games that will let you see just what kind of a person your SO is. As they say, you don’t know someone until you live with them, see them angry, or see them play Cuphead.
