At certain points of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, if you are not playing with canon mode on, then you will be presented with certain choices that have very little impact on the story as a whole. During one of the earliest main quests of the game, you will have a choice between two different types of silk. In this guide, we will tell you which option is ideal for the quest.
Choose Red Chinese Silk or Black Portuguese Silk
During one of the main quests of the game, specifically Dress for Success, you will eventually be tasked with finding a kosode. We have a guide on where to buy the Kosode for the quest, which should not take you long to find as it will be conveniently marked on your map.
Now, once you are done with all of the steps detailed there, you will then be presented with a choice that might seem important at first. Basically, you can pick between the red Chinese silk or the black Portuguese silk for your kosode.
If you want a quick answer, it is this: Your choice here does not matter. Picking either the red or black silk has quite literally zero impact on the story and the following quest’s outcome. All it does is change a bit of dialogue with a certain NPC when you first speak with them.
Picking the black one is the “correct” choice if you want to please the person that you will be meeting later on. They will compliment you on your kosode due to its craftsmanship and appearance.
However, going with the red will not have any negative effect on that quest, though they will call you out for its poor quality. Again, though, it is a completely harmless choice as it will not change anything in the grand scheme of things.
And that is pretty much everything you need to know when it comes to this choice in the game. While you are here, check out our guide on who to confront during the Tea Ceremony Quest. That guide will come in very handy in the following quest directly related to this one, as it is where you meet the person who will comment on your choice of kosode.

If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
