“Beginning of Misfortune” is an Exploration Codex quest tied to the Ant Nest dungeon in Throne & Liberty.
Explore the Ant Nest to find a specific report, then take out some of the Elite ants to cull their population. Just be careful not to get swarmed by dozens of huge aggressive ants!
In this guide, we’ll help you complete this quest as easily as possible so you don’t need to spend too much time hanging around all these angry ants.
Beginning of Misfortune Exploration Codex Quest | Throne & Liberty Guide
You can complete All of the “Beginning of Misfortune” Exploration Codex tasks in Throne & Liberty in the Ant Nest dungeon. You can find the dungeon in Stonegard, right in the middle of The Raging Wilds, Moonlight Desert, and Sandworm Lair regions.
The first objective for this Exploration Codex quest is to pick up one page from the “Expedition Records: Ant Nest” Collection Codex. Funnily enough, there’s only a single one! You can find it in the Food Storage part of the Ant Nest, marked above.
As soon as you enter the area, look for the large hole on to the east and jump down.
Then, check the spiderwebs at the bottom of the hole and read the “Mysterious Note” on them to complete the objective.
Taking Out the Elite Ants
After that, make your way to the Garbage Dump area in the southeastern part of the Ant Nest. You’ll need to complete the two remaining objectives there: kill 1 Honeypot Ant and kill 1 Giant Acid Ant. The map above shows the spawn locations for both ant types.
The game marks both of these ants as Elite enemies. The game will mark them with red skulls on your map when you’re close to them. Keep an eye out on the minimap to spot them more easily!
They aren’t too tough but we do recommend having some Area of Effect attacks, especially for the Giant Acid Ant. You’re very likely to be swarmed by other ant enemies in the area, such as the Worker Ants and Charging Ants. Clear them quickly with strong AoEs so you don’t get overwhelmed!
Nonetheless, that’s it for the “Beginning of Misfortune” Exploration Codex in Throne & Liberty! We recommend completingthe “Voice Behind the Mask” Exploration Codex quest as well while you’re near the Moonlight Desert, as well.
