Like most dungeon crawlers, Dungeonborne can be an extremely difficult game to get into, especially for those unfamiliar with how the game’s mechanics work. Most enemies in the game will kill you very quickly, and if you don’t know what to do, the game will feel more challenging than fun.
That said, once you get used to the game and understand how it works, it will become much more fun to play. In this complete beginner’s guide, we will look at everything that you need to know when starting out in Dungeonborne.
Complete Beginner’s Guide
Character Creation & Picking the Right Class
When creating your character in Dungeonborne, you will need to select the class you want to start with. There are a total of 8 different classes in this game, and each one has its own unique playstyle. So which class should you go for?
Well, the best class to go for fully depends on what your playstyle is. If you are someone who likes stealthy gameplay, then Rogue is the class for you. Alternatively, if you prefer aggressive melee combat, then the Fighter class is a much better option.
Picking a class that suits your playstyle instead of the most meta class will make your overall experience more fun, and you will be able to maximize what the class has to offer. Stat Priority
As you level up your character and go deeper into the game, you’ll need to make sure you are leveling up the right stats. Your stat priority will fully depend on which class you are playing. Skills for the Swordmaster for example mainly scale with Dexterity, so Dexterity is the stat you should be prioritizing.
Your armor in Dungeonborne can also increase your stats. So when looking at which armor to equip and use, try to find one that boosts your main stats. A lot of classes in this game have skills that can benefit from multiple stats, so you have a bit of flexibility when looking for gear that benefits your build.
Maps & Game Modes
Before jumping into the game, you will need to select the map you want to play on. Dungeonborne currently has 2 different maps that you can play, Clouseau Castle and Sinner’s End. Both maps also have 2 difficulties that you can choose to play at. Casual is the standard easy difficulty, and Classic is the more difficult one.
When starting out, it’s best to go with Clouseau Castle at Casual difficulty. Clouseau Castle is much easier than Sinner’s End for new players, as the map is overall easier to get used to. Try playing Clouseau Castle at Casual difficulty until you feel comfortable with the game’s combat and exploration.
Besides the 2 dungeon maps, you can also play the Mithril Order game mode. Mithril Order is a PvP game mode and is a lot of fun when played with friends.
Gameplay Guide
Combat
When it comes to combat, the way you fight enemies in this game will fully depend on what class you are playing. Mage classes will tend to keep their distance and melee classes will want to get close to the enemies.
The most important thing to remember when fighting in this game is to constantly move around. Even the basic enemies in this game can deal massive amounts of damage. Moving around when fighting will help you minimize the hits you take. Combat will generally start to feel much easier once you get used to it. You can also utilize the game Training Room to test out weapon combos and get a feel for the overall combat.
Exploration & Looting
Besides enemies, you will find a lot of valuable loot lying around all across the dungeon you are exploring. The most important thing here is learning the map, as that will allow you to go through the dungeon much quicker and get yourself much more loot.
You don’t have to learn a lot of maps in this game as Dungeonborne currently has only 2 maps. The more time you put into learning the maps and exploring them, the more likely you are to get better loot.
Purchasing Items at the Merchant
The Merchant is a very important part of Dungeonborne, as you can purchase valuable consumables from them to aid you in-game. To purchase items at the Merchant, you will need to have gold on you. Gold is the main currency in Dungeonborne, and you will get plenty of it when exploring the dungeons.
It’s always a good idea to stock up on valuable consumables before venturing into a dungeon. Consumables like Health Potions and Bandages are great to have on you as a beginner, as they will help keep you healthy when exploring the dungeons.
Craft Items Using the Alchemist
The Alchemist can be handy in Dungeonborne, as he allows you to craft a bunch of valuable Consumables. Crafting Consumables is a good alternative to buying them if you don’t have a lot of gold coins on you. You can craft Consumables in this game using crafting materials you loot when exploring a dungeon.
Crafting early on is pretty limited, and nearly all of your resources should go into crafting Healing Potions and Bandages. You can only craft Consumables if you have the right amount of materials on you, so make sure you loot as much as you can.
Heirlooms
Besides crafting Consumables, you can also craft valuable gear in Dungeonborne called Heirlooms. To craft Heirlooms in this game, you will need to have unique materials that can only be used in crafting Heirlooms. These are:
Rough White Iron – The most common of the metals, it’s used when making Common rarity Heirlooms.
Ilmenite Ore – Used when crafting Uncommon rarity Heirlooms.
Refined Steel Ore – Used to craft Magic rarity Heirlooms.
Star Fragment – Metal used for Epic rarity Heirlooms.
You can get the materials above by dismantling the gear that you have on you. Dismantling gear and crafting Heirlooms can be done through the Heirloom tab in the game’s main menu.
Most of the Heirlooms that you can craft can also get upgraded. Upgrades will require you to use additional materials, depending on the new rarity of the gear. You should only try and upgrade weapons and armor that you really enjoy playing with and suit the build that you are going for.
