Should You Pull On Ellen Or Zhu Yuan In Zenless Zone Zero?

Set to release on the 4th of July, Zenless Zone Zero is the latest gacha game developed by the popular game studio HoYoverse. Like most gacha games, you can unlock new characters in Zenless Zone Zero by pulling them from Banners.

There are currently 2 characters set to come out with the game’s release, Ellen and Zhu Yuan. Both of these characters are S-rank characters, and you can only unlock them by pulling them from their specific banners. So when pulling for a character, which character should you go for?

To help you decide which character to pull for, we will be looking at what the characters themselves offer, and other characters you can get from the 2 Banners.

You will need a lot of pulls to get the S-rank characters from their Banner. Make sure you check out our article on all F2P rewards incoming for Zenless Zone Zero. These rewards will get you a lot of valuable resources, including Master Tapes and Polychromes. Both of these materials can get you more pulls.

Ellen

Ellen is an ice anomaly character who will be your team’s main DPS character. She has extremely high damage potential and can deal with multiple enemies very easily with her wide slash attack. If you are playing her though, you will need a good supporting team alongside her.

Ellen doesn’t provide a lot of utility to your team, and she requires other characters to help with that. Soukaku goes very well with Ellen, and she can also be pulled through Ellen’s Banner as an A-rank character. The other character available in Ellen’s Banner is Anton.

Zhu Yuan

Like Ellen, Zhu Yuan is a main DPS character who will be your team’s primary carry. She is currently the only Ether anomaly DPS character in the game, making it very good to have her in your collection.

Alongside Zhu Yuan, you can pull Ben and Nicole from her banner. While there are other ways to get Nicole, the primary way of getting Ben is going to be through pulls. Ben is currently the only defense-focused character in the game, making him a good addition to any team.

Who’s Better?

Overall, both characters are pretty strong and you can easily make a team around them. On top of that, both of them are also quite fun to play. They have flashy movesets and can deal devastating amounts of damage.

That said, you can’t really pull for both, especially if you are a free-to-play player. For most people, Zhu Yuan might be the better pick as she is the only Ether anomaly damage dealer in the game right now. We don’t know when the next Ether character will drop, so it might be a while before we get another one.

Other than that, Zhu Yuans Banner also has Ben, and Ben is one of the best support characters to have in the game right now.

While meta is really important in games like Zenless Zone Zero, you should always go for what you like most. If you find Ellen more fun to play, then you should choose her over Zhu Yuan. You can also pull for Ellen much earlier as her Banner will be released with the game, and Zhu Yuans’s will be released 3 weeks later.
