When picking a team in Wuthering Waves, damage is often the first thing people think of. It’s understandable though, as who doesn’t like dealing damage? The main DPS that you pick will often deal a large share of your team’s damage. In an ideal team, you will want to have a main DPS, secondary or Sub-DPS, and a support character.

Secondary DPS characters are often not given a lot of importance when picking out a team. Despite that, they can be as important as your main DPS because they help give your team the right balance.

Sanhua is one of the first secondary DPS characters that most people will unlock. In this guide, we will be looking at the best build for Sanhua in Wuthering Waves. With the right build and team around her, Sanhua becomes one of the best secondary DPS characters in the game.

Ultimate Sanhua Guide

To understand what the best build is, it’s important to know what makes up a build in Wuthering Waves. The 2 aspects that you need to look at for your build are going to be your Echos and weapons. Alongside your build, it is also important to understand how to best utilize the team system to get the best out of your character.

We will be looking at all of those aspects in more detail for Sanhua. This will help you understand the reasoning for each selection and ultimately make it easier for you to maximize Sanhua’s strengths.

Echos

As she is a secondary damage dealer, Sanhua will benefit most from Echos that give her a good balance in terms of damage and support. The Bell-Borne Geochelone is perfect for this as you will get a significant increase in damage, and at the same time, the Echo will also buff her supportive ability. The Echo will provide a lot of shields and damage reduction to your whole team.

For pure damage purposes, the Lampylumen Myriad is the better option. This Echo will increase your Glacio and Resonance Skill damage. So, you are basically trading your supporting ability for an increase in damage.

Your stats priority when playing Sanhua should be:

  • CRIT Rate
  • CRIT DMG
  • Energy Regen
  • ATK%
  • Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus%

Your stats will purely focus on increasing your damage. The only skill that doesn’t directly buff your damage is Energy Regen. It will instead help you case more skills and that will then help you deal more damage.

Lastly, for the Sonata effect, you can go 2 routes depending on how you want to play Sanhua. For a more supportive role, you can opt for a 5-piece Moonlit Clouds build. This Sonata effect will let you greatly buff the damage of your main DPS, but you will lose quite a bit of damage on Sanhua.

The other option is to go for a 5-piece Freezing Frost, which is a pure damage Sonata effect. Both are perfectly viable options and it all comes down to how you want to play Sanhua.

Weapons

The Emerald of Genesis is easily the best weapon that you can use for Sanhua. It is generally one of the best weapons in the game right now, as it is good on a lot of different characters. For example, even if you are playing someone like Yangyang, the Emerald of Genesis will be your go-to weapon. You can learn more about building Yangyang in Wuthering Waves by checking out our guide on it.

The Emerald of Genesis stats and weapon description.

You will mainly want to use Emerald of Genesis on Sanhua because of the bonus it provides in Energy Regen alongside damage. So by using this weapon you can get a big boost in damage dealt and cast more skill as you will have better Energy Regen.

Other than the Emerald of Genesis, other standard weapons for secondary DPS characters also work well with Sanhua. Weapons like the Commando of Conviction or Lunar Cutter are both a bit weaker than Emerald of Genesis, but still perfectly viable option.

Ideal Team

Sanhua will almost always be your secondary DPS character, so you will want to pair her with a support character and a main DPS character. This style of comp will help you get a good amount of damage and enough support to help your DPS characters deal the damage.

Example of a team comp that you can use with Sanhua. Sanhua as secondary DPS, Verina as support, and Rover as main DPS.

For the support role, Verina is almost always going to be the best character. She has an insane amount of utility in the form of healing and damage buffs. Verina can pretty much make any team composition better and is one of, if not the best support right now.

For main DPS, you have a few more options as the game has a wide variety of very strong main DPS characters. Characters like Encore and Jiyan are among the best in the DPS class right now due to their extremely high damage potential. If you are just starting out, a character like Rover can also do a very good job for you.

There are people out there who like using Sanhua as a main DPS, and while this is not ideal, it is still viable enough to mention it. For a comp like this, you will have the same support pick, but instead of a main DPS, you will now get a secondary DPS as your third.

Overall Playstyle

A lot of Sanhua’s gameplay will be focused on creating glacier like ice structures and then detonating them to deal very high damage. Sanhua can create these glaciers using a number of her different abilities and Resonance skills. Even her Resonance Liberation will create a large glacier.

The ice structures that Sanhua can create in-game.

The glacier will deal damage when it is created and when it is detonated. You can detonate the glaciers Sanhua creates using her special heavy attack called Detonate. Mastering Sanhua requires you to maximize the damage with the glaciers and learn her timings.

Sanhua’s Outro Skill is what makes her a perfect Secondary DPS character. It allows her to buff the damage of the teammate that comes in next. So to use this Outro Skill properly, you will want your main DPS to come in after Sanhua.

Sanhua is overall a relatively simple character, but extremely fun to play. She feels very different from a lot of other characters in this game due to her unique glacier mechanic. By optimizing her build and finding the right team for her, you can fully utilize her kit and deal the maximum amount of damage with her.
