Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a few playable characters, and they’re all pretty good. One of my favorites is Aerith, because of her unique and fun play style. We’ll be going over how exactly you should be using Aerith, along with her moves and combat skills!
How to Use Aerith | Moves, Combat, Skills, and More
Aerith is a magic-based character. She works best when used from a range, providing support to other party members through her various skills.
If you use her intelligently, she can make unwinnable battles winnable again. Our aim is to help you with that and make Aerith more approachable.
Basic Attack
By pressing Square, you can use Aerith’s basic attack. This can attack multiple enemies if they’re standing close to each other. Aerith uses her weapon to attack enemies from range. This attack also has a chance to inflict critical damage!
Tempest
If you hold down the attack button instead of tapping it, Aerith does her Tempest Charged Skill.
This does a decent amount of damage while also applying more stagger. It has the potential to hit multiple enemies as well if aimed correctly.
If this skill is used at full charge, Aerith will summon a Fleeting Familiar. This is a small pink butterfly, and it increases the potency of your skill.
It’s advised to summon this at the start of fights, as it will do consistent damage to the enemy.
Dodging
By pressing Circle, you can use Aerith’s dodge. This is a simple twirl to the side, but it’s a good basic defense option for avoiding incoming damage. Timing it well is key!
Blocking
Aerith’s other defensive option is her block. By holding down R1, you will receive less damage when hit by enemies. This is less useful than dodging as you still end up taking damage, but it’s significantly easier. You should use both depending on the circumstance.
Alternatively, if you’re feeling confident, you can use Precision Blocking. This is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s version of a parry button. All you have to do is time your block to the exact moment where an attack collides with you. This will reduce all damages to 0! The game will say Immune if you pull this off, so keep an eye out.
Ward Shift
Aerith can make use of an ability called Ward Shift. This allows her to teleport a small distance by pressing Triangle and holding any direction with the left analog stick. There is a cooldown on this ability, an approximate of 7 seconds. This means you can’t spam it, but it’s a very useful tool to have in your arsenal regardless.
Soul Drain
This is the first ATB skill on the list, out of 4. This is a pretty useful skill, allowing you to essentially steal your opponent’s MP and take it for yourself. You can get additional mileage out of this by doing it on staggered enemies, as they’ll give more MP. It also does a little bit of damage, just as a bonus. It only costs one ATB bar.
Sorcerous Storm
Sorcerous Storm is an AOE magic attack. It’s very powerful, especially considering its application to enemy groups. By getting up close and personal to a cluster of enemies, you can do some devastating damage to their ranks. It only costs one 1 ATB bar too, so go wild with this one!
Radiant Ward
Radiant Ward is one of Aerith’s most OP abilities. It allows you to create a small field where you are completely immune while casting spells. It also gives a boost to all of your other abilities. For example, your basic 2-hit combo is turned into a 3-hit combo.
To make use of the Radiant Ward ability, you have to stay within its boundary. This isn’t a problem though, as you can press Triangle at any part of the map to teleport back inside it.
If that wasn’t enough, you can also cast Radiant Ward around any other member of your party and teleport there. It does all of this while only consuming one ATB bar!
Arcane Ward
Arcane Ward casts a flower-like spell around you which allows you to cast multiple spells in quick succession.
Other members of your party can also make use of this quick succession spell boost, making it very useful. Aerith can use both Arcane and Radiant Ward at the same time, which is a deadly combination. It uses one ATB bar.
Bodyguard
Aerith only has one Synergy Skill, called Bodyguard, and it is the same one regardless of who is in your party at the time. It makes one party member protect her as she casts spells, making them act as a bodyguard.
Firework Blade
Aerith also has a couple of Synergy Abilities. These are charged up by using ATB skills, and are quite fun to use. Her first Synergy Ability is the Firework Blade.
This is a ranged magic attack, where Cloud attacks with his sword to channel Aerith’s magic towards enemies as a ranged attack. It requires both Aerith and Cloud to have 3 pips.
Divine Punishment
Divine Punishment is Aerith’s second Synergy Ability. This time, it’s Tifa and Aerith together. This attack makes Tifa do a massive damage dealing area of effect attack. Once again, both characters need to have 3 pips to use this ability. This ability is also very likely to deal Stagger.
Planetary Roar
Planetary Roar is Aerith’s last Synergy Ability. She pairs up with Red XIII to do a ranged attack that covers a large area. It also requires 3 pips for each character.
Healing Wind
Aerith’s main Limit Break ability is Healing Wind. This provides a moderate amount of health regeneration for party members during combat. Heals are always useful in these kinds of games, so Healing Wind is a must-have ability!
Planet’s Protection
Planet’s Protection is Aerith’s last ability, and also her second Limit break ability. It’s definitely one of her strongest ones too, as it reduces all damage to 0 for every party member.
It can only be used once in battle, and requires a full Limit break bar as well as having the limit break leveled up.
All in all, Aerith is a pretty useful and fun character. Her special abilities like Radiant Ward and Planet’s Protection make her particularly good for support, but she’s a decent all-rounder as well!
