Ready or Not: Shotguns Guide

Often referred to as the game that became what Rainbow Six Siege was supposed to be, Ready or Not is a hyper-realistic first-person shooter that puts you in the boots of a SWAT officer deployed on various types of missions.

As such, you are offered a variety of weapons and tools to help you out on your missions. One such weapon is a shotgun.

Shotguns are often underpowered in first-person shooters, with their range most of the time being unrealistically short. Dive on in as we explore the world of shotguns in Ready or Not and give you a guide on which is best. Let’s begin!

In Ready or Not, there are a total of 4 shotguns players can use. We will go through each one of them explaining their pros and cons, as well as give you a historical background for each one.

Remington 870

Remington 870 is perhaps the most popular and reliable shotgun ever made. With production starting in the 1950s, it is still used by law enforcement agencies nowadays. It is reported that by 2009, it sold approximately 10 million models.

In Ready or Not, the Remington 870 is a modified version featuring a magazine extension, a built-in light, and an adjustable stock. It is a 12-gauge shotgun that holds 7+1 rounds in total. When it comes to dealing with enemies, it will stop any unarmored adversary. However, the buckshot will struggle against armored enemies.

Worth noting is that while it won’t instantly kill an armored criminal, it will stun the target for a brief moment.

Additionally, while most games depict shotguns as useless at long range, in Ready or Not however, shotguns, especially buckshot, are more than adequate at up to 40 yards in the game.

Benelli Supernova Tactical

This Italian-made pump shotgun features in many games and is used by a variety of law-enforcement agencies from around the world. It uses a full stock, a recoil reducer, and ghost ring sights. However, it comes with a rail capable of adjusting to many different optics and attachments you might need.

It can hold 8+1 rounds when fully loaded and in-game it does not differ that much from the Remington 870. Players can choose whichever shotgun suits them best or whichever shotgun they find aesthetically more pleasing.

Benelli M4

Another Italian-made shotgun that made it to this list is the Benelli M4. Originally designed for the US Marine Corps in 1999, this is one of the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotguns. Nowadays, it is used by law-enforcement agencies from around the world and is a synonym for reliability and simplicity.

In-game, it features an adjustable stock and a pistol grip. In addition to this, it can equip many different sights on it, capable of adapting to many different preferences.

Beretta 1301

The last shotgun on our list is the Beretta 1301 designed and manufactured in Italy. Italians love shotguns for some reason. In any case, it is specifically designed for law-enforcement agencies and home defense. It is a semi-automatic shotgun that began production in 2014 and has only grown in popularity since.

In the game, the Beretta 1301 holds 8 rounds, can fit any sights on its rail, and lastly, can accommodate all attachments available to players in the game. Worth trying out.
