Where To Recruit Mercenaries in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader allows you to recruit Mercenaries as party members. They function differently from the unique and named party members you’ll encounter throughout the Koronus Expanse.

The best thing about Mercenaries is that they are highly customizable, so you can tailor them to fit any role. You don’t even need to train them from scratch, as they will match your Rogue Trader’s experience!

How To Recruit Mercenaries

You can only recruit Mercenaries once the Voidship is fully unlocked for free roam, which happens early on as part of the main story.

If you still haven’t reached that point yet, you just need to follow the main questline a bit more!

Once you have full free access to the Voidship, roam around the bridge to find High Factotum Janris Danrok.

Speak with him and choose “I wish to bolster my retinue with skilled fighters”.

You can now access the list of every Mercenary available for you to recruit. There aren’t many premade ones, however, but you can make as many custom Mercenaries as you wish.

Truth be told, this high degree of customization is what makes Mercenaries stand out when compared to unique and named party members.

You can basically do anything you want with your Mercenaries, as the character creation is the exact same as it is for your own Rogue Trader.

However, Mercenaries do cost 1 Profit Factor to recruit. They’re definitely worth the price, but it’s still something to keep in mind.

Additionally, you can recruit multiple Mercenaries at any given moment. They can be kept on standby until you add them to your party, and there doesn’t seem to be a limit to how many you can have.

Lastly, new Mercenaries start at Level 1 but have enough XP stored for you to level them up to match your Rogue Trader’s current level. No reason not to hire them since they won’t hold you back!
