The new squad option in No Man’s Sky Outlaws update allows you to recruit a number of pilots to join you in your journey. These new characters are NPCs you find in the universe and cannot be another player. You can summon them anytime, anywhere whenever you need help.

How to Get Identical Ships in Your Squadron in No Man’s Sky Outlaws

You can recruit up to four pilots for your squad. No pilot is exactly the same, but you can have the same identical ships if you want to keep things organized and uniform. To do so, of course, you will need four identical ships, or five if you want to match with your squad.

Managing Squadron

The first thing you will need to do, aside from having identical ships, is to manage your squadron in your freighter. Make sure that this is absolutely empty and that you have no squadron pilots previously recruited before proceeding to the next steps.

Exchanging Ships & Recruiting Pilots

Your next step is to head to the space station using the ship that you’ll give to your pilot. Once inside, talk to a pilot and make an offer on the lightform’s starship, negotiate price, and exchange.

After doing so, run back to where your spaceship was and the pilot will be there. Recruit the pilot along with the ship that you want. Jump to another galaxy and head to another space station, and repeat the steps above. Keep in mind that no matter what class the pilot you’re hiring is, it will automatically move to C. You can just upgrade this later.
