Resident Evil 4 Remake expands the classic survival horror game with some new content, such as accessories that provide cosmetic and gameplay effects.

The Chicken Hat is one such accessory, and it can greatly reduce damage you take. If you are having trouble with higher difficulties, this is a fantastic accessory to get!

But how exactly can you unlock it? Read on and we’ll answer that question, telling you everything you need to know.

The Chicken Hat is obtained exclusively through the Extra Content Shop. It costs a 2000 Completion Points (CP). On top of that, you need to complete a specific challenge to be able to purchase it!

Unlike the other recent Resident Evil Remakes, Capcom haven’t provided a DLC to unlock everything. You will need to earn it the hard way.

To even be able to purchase the Chicken Hat, you will need to complete the game on Hardcore difficulty with an S+ Rank. That means you need to beat it in less than 5 hours and 30 minutes.

While this is a daunting task, we can provide you with a few tips to help make things easier.

First off, ignore collectibles and sidequests. You want to focus entirely on the main game content, rushing through as fast as you can!

As you might imagine, that also means you should do your best to avoid fighting enemies. Parry their attacks and run past them, or simply choose to stealth by them. Don’t waste time on fights.

Thankfully, unlike some other Resident Evil games, you can use saves as much as you want. They don’t affect your rank at all.

As such, make sure to save constantly. If you die, you want to reload a save. Using retry to continue from a checkpoint will add up time.

Once you manage this task, the Chicken Hat will become available for purchase in the Extra Content Shop. All you need to do is pay up the 2000 CP and it’s all yours!

When you buy it, just equip it from the Extras menu. It will greatly reduce damage you take while it’s equipped. It can be a great help for Professional difficulty, as long as you don’t mind the chicken head!
