Mounts and Blade 2 Bannerlord is more than simply killing mercenaries with your sword and blindingly charging at enemies. It’s a strategic medieval war game that also has a layer of finances to manage.
Money is essential in trying to build an effective army in this game, so players are trying to find ways to make the best amount of money in as little time as possible.
Once you finally form your first army, you quickly realize you need funds to maintain and upgrade it. Luckily in Mounts and Blade, there are a number of ways you can make money fast. Some are obvious while some are pretty obscure.
This guide lists the ways you can make money fast in Mount and Blade 2. Let’s get started.
How to Make Money Fast in Mount and Blade 2
Budgeting Your Troops
Common mistake players often make in buying troops is they either buy as many troops as possible or they only buy the higher tier ones. The initial troops are weak, but they are cheap and they get stronger the more you progress with them in the party.
You can recruit troops once you have positive relations in a town. Recruit rank 1 troops because although they might be weak now, they get stronger over time so they are the best bang for your buck despite the price.
If you need help deciding which starter troops to get, I got you covered.
Vlandian recruit – good all-around melee range hybrid built.
Sturgeon recruit – good foot soldiers.
Khuzait nomad – upgrades to horse archer. Ranged cavalry
Imperial recruit – good heavy tanky melee units
Additionally, try to get some top-tier companions. We have a separate guide on that here in GamesFuze so make sure you check that one out. You can check the encyclopedia for their information and then choose which one suits your party best.
It’s also essential to have a good surgeon in your crew. A high-level skill of 60 in medicine is a great place to start. Make sure you also have other roles to fill at the party. The other roles are as follows
Quartermaster – can recruit troops in the villages
Engineer – help operate siege weapons
Merchant – operates the caravan a.k.a the main source of income in the game
Fighters – not listed but nonetheless important, especially in battle
Ways to Make Money Fast
Hunting Bandits
They are high-level enemies that you can see all around the map. Bandits give out good loot once you defeat them, but they can do serious damage so don’t just go in mindlessly.
A good tactic is to set your cavalry to follow you and then simply go around them. Additionally, don’t be afraid to try different tactics to find your style
Completing quests
Completing quests is a good starting income. This method is not sustainable for the future but if you’re starting out, quests give you a great starting fund and reputation in the towns you’re doing quests for.
Purchase Shops in Towns
Once you gained substantial money, it’s time to put the money to great use. Buying shops is a great long-term steady income for your party.
They are great investments but pricey. It’s around 14,000 gold to buy one. Go into a major town with good prosperity, go to the shops and choose the shop you want to buy. You will soon see your income grow steadily.
Join Tournaments
You can also run tournaments. You can enter tournaments by talking to tournament masters in a town. Place a bet on yourself and see if you got a fighting chance. Make sure you bet accordingly to your chances of winning the tournament.
Clearing Gangs in Towns
Another is clearing gangs in towns. Go find some thugs in town and reply to them rudely and they will attack you. They give you some great loot plus you get an improved reputation in the city
