A Plague Tale Requiem: How to Get Secret Armor | Windmill Puzzle Guide

Once you reach chapter 9 of the game, you will come across four large windmills which have a puzzle that you can solve to get a secret armor. However, the thing with this puzzle is that it’s easily missable if you’re not paying close attention.

But if a secret armor as a reward entices you, then solving it is just worth it. Let’s have a look at what the solution is.

How to Get Secret Armor | Windmill Puzzle Guide in A Plague Tale: Requiem

To get the secret armor and solve the windmill puzzle, you want to get to Chapter 9 first. The main objective of this chapter has something to do with the phoenix statues on the island. However, for the purposes of this guide, we’ll be focusing on the windmills instead.

You can find four huge windmills atop a hill, and they’re not really that hard to miss. To make things a lot easier to follow, we’ll be assigning them numbers 1 to 4 from left to right.

Then, you want to look for a stone staircase to the right side once you approach the ceremonial tree.

First and Second Windmill

Once you arrive at the first windmill, open the door and get to the second level. Here, simply interact with the crank in order to turn off the windmill. After you’re finished, move toward the second windmill. In the second windmill, you will find crates on the outside with a rope tied to a wooden pole not far from there.

All you need to do is interact with the rope on the wooden pole to pull it. This will cause the crates to fall down, revealing a tiny entrance you can crawl into. Simply head inside and interact with the crank to turn off the second windmill. You can then open the door to exit.

Third and Fourth Windmill

Now, you want to head over to the third windmill. These two windmills are a bit different than the first two. Instead of turning them off, you will have to turn them on. To turn on the third windmill, you need to look for a moveable crate behind a small fence.

Then, simply move it forward until it reveals a hole in the windmill’s wall. Then, you have to ask Hugo to crawl inside so he can unlock the door for you. After opening the door, head inside and interact with the crank to turn it on.

Lastly, for the fourth windmill, you need to look for the cart outside. Slide below the cart and climb up the ladder. You’ll find a hole in the wall, though you won’t be able to crawl through it. Instead, you want to use your sling and hit the door’s lock to remove it.

After that, simply go to the entrance of the windmill, open the door, and then interact with the crank to turn it on.

Getting the Secret Armor

After solving the puzzle, look for a series of stone arches behind the second and third windmills. Simply follow the stone arches until you arrive at a hole in the ground leading to a cave. Drop down the hole, and you will then find the cave containing the armor.

Keep moving forward until you reach a small area with some crates in it. Interact with the small crate sitting on top of the large one in order to pick up the secret Bracer armor.

In case you’re wondering, the Bracer allows you to recover a lot faster from enemy attacks. This can be pretty helpful as it improves your overall survivability, especially in the later parts of the game.
