Salt Shards are an important resource in Grounded, especially if you want to upgrade weapons to inflict more damage against insects that have a weakness towards salt. They also help maintain weapons like the Salt Morning Star since it requires at least 8 Salt Shards for their repair.
This guide will help you easily find Salt Shards. Let’s get to it.
How to Get Salt Shard in Grounded
Salt Shards can be best found in Antlion Burrows located in the Sandbox in the lower western section of the Backyard. The caves can be unlocked by killing a burrowed Antlion in which looting its corpse will cause a collapse, causing the cave to be accessible.
Inside Antlion Burrows are small caves with many Salt Clusters for the picking! Make sure to bring a Tier 2 Insect Hammer to harvest this resource, as a Tier 1 would not be strong enough to farm it.
To farm Salt Shards, just whack the Salt Clusters a few times causing them to break. Once they break, Salt Shards will pop out ripe for the picking.
Also, an important tip to avoid the lethal sizzling of the Sandbox is that you can visit the area during the night. This allows you to visit Antlion Burrows without worrying about turning yourself into a hot potato crisp.
Salt Shards allow you to craft Salt Arrows, Salt Globs, and Salt Jewels, and repair the Tier 3 Weapon Salt Morning Star. These are resources that can be used to upgrade weapons with the “salty” augment, dealing more damage to specific insects.
