Back 4 Blood has finally released its second DLC called Children of the Worm. Alongside a bunch of new content for players to explore, it also introduces a new Cleaner, which is a term for the game’s playable characters. This character is none other than Prophet Dan.
So, what exactly does Prophet Dan bring to the table? Let’s find out.
Prophet Dan Abilities Overview | Dan Guide in Back 4 Blood
First, some backstory about Prophet Dan. According to him, he is a visionary and a preacher who’s actively trying to rescue his men from the cult who are attempting to spread the Ridden virus. As someone with the title “Prophet” beside his name, Dan is unsurprisingly eccentric; not to mention, he’s quite possibly the most gimmicky cleaner in the game.
His main abilities make him an excellent support as they are mostly intended to help other players when they’re in trouble.
But despite being a support character, Dan can surely dish out some heavy damage each time one of his teammates becomes incapacitated.
Prophet Dan’s Abilities
For Prophet Dan, revival is what keeps him going. The reason is simple: each time a cleaner is revived, the effects of Prophet Dan’s traits activate. His traits are as follows:
Divine Intervention – Activates one of the seven different effects at random (more on this later)
Legerdemain – Starts with a Smoke Grenade
Protect the Flock – Adds 3 to Team Damage Resistance and grants Knockback Immunity when reviving a teammate
Vengeful – Increases Prophet Dan’s combat attributes each time a teammate is incapacitated.
Among his traits, Divine Intervention is quite possibly the most powerful. Basically, this trait triggers when someone revives a teammate. This means that Prophet Dan wouldn’t even have to do it himself. As long as a teammate revives an incapacitated teammate, Divine Intervention activates.
This also works well with his Vengeful trait, though to be fair, Prophet Dan is less effective (and useful) if his teammates aren’t dying too often.
Effects from Divine Intervention
Now, let’s talk about the various effects that Divine Intervention triggers. As mentioned, this trait will activate one of the seven effects which are as follows:
Carnage! – Spawns various live Frag Grenades in a small area
Radiance! – Similar to Carnage! but spawns live Flash Grenades instead
Riches! – Spawns several Copper for you to pick up
The Light! – Provides you with a 5% increase in damage or a 5% increase in damage resistance
Vanish! – Spawns various live Smoke Grenades in a small area
Vigor! – Heals you up to full health
Vitality! – Provides you with 1 extra life
Do take note that the grenades spawned by Carnage! and Radiance! won’t deal any damage to your teammates. Also, these effects can only come in handy if the other cleaners are incapacitated often.
