PC games are the second most popular option, eclipsed only by the mobile gaming industry in recent years with ever smarter and more powerful mobile devices.

However, it is worth mentioning that the majority of the gaming community doesn’t even regard mobile games as “real games”. More often than not, gaming is a term reserved for console and PC gaming with hardcore gamers shunning the prospect of mobile gamers being…well…gamers.

That said, in today’s article we’re bringing you the most underrated PC games our hardcore audience should try, so without further ado let’s get into it.

1.    Cuphead

Perhaps one of the best-known titles out there, but often overlooked or disregarded is Cuphead. This 2D game for PCs is notoriously hard and unforgiving, punishing your every mistake in ways you can’t even imagine.

Cuphead is a run-and-gun type of game with cartoonish art and a 1930s-inspired drawing style. Be sure to check it out!

2.   Darkest Dungeon

Darkest Dungeon is one of those creepy titles that boasts phenomenal art, perfect yet difficult bosses, completely crazy in-game mechanics, and above all, difficulty. This game is often hailed as one of the most difficult games of all time with some bosses being so ridiculously unfair and difficult to beat that gamers have quit the game altogether.

The game features several DLCs and is regularly updated even today.

3.    Crysis

The Crysis franchise is very well known, however, its success early on was hindered because the game was ahead of its time in the most basic of terms.

With its release in 2007, the game was so demanding when it came to hardware and software that few players were able to run it smoothly at the time. Poor optimization only worsened the issue thus diminishing its early success. Nevertheless, the game was reworked a few years back and you should give it a try!

4.    The Surge

The Surge is one of those titles that combines hack-and-slash mechanics with the need to think through your every move instead of going headlong through the wall. If you do, the game will be a punishing experience you will end up regretting. However, if taken on slowly, section by section, the game can be a fantastic experience mimicking Dark Souls to an extent.

This goes without mentioning the gorgeous graphics that the devs worked so hard on!

5.    Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is easily the most underrated title on this list. With good reason too. The unfortunate coincidence was that it was released at the same time as Battlefield 1 and so it was eclipsed by the success of this game.

Players often describe Titanfall 2 as the most complete single-player campaign of all time featuring breathtaking scenes, a perfect storyline, voice acting, and an ending that will make you shed tears.

6.    Spec-Ops: The Line

Spec Ops: The Line is easily one of the most fun games to play on this list. With fun and dynamic gameplay, beautiful graphics, and a heartbreaking storyline, you don’t want to miss out on playing this title.

Even our hardcore writer shed tears at one of the endings of this masterpiece.

7.    Prey

And lastly, Prey is a futuristic title, or more accurately a combination of an RPG game and a FPS, featuring stealth mechanics. It’s the most fun and creative game we have played in a long time.

However, please beware that the game is notoriously hard! If you persevere, the game will reward you, and trust us, it is worth the effort.

These are some of the underrated PC games that you should try. Of course, the type of game depends on personal preference, but there is a good chance you’ll love most of these games.
