Each character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has their own exclusive weapon. Using a different class changes the character’s outfit, but the equipped weapon remains the same. Fortunately, these weapons can be upgraded to help you become stronger in the game. This guide will show you how to unlock weapon upgrades.

How to Unlock Weapon Upgrades in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Unlocking weapon upgrades require the completion of the Uniting the Seven Noppon side quest. This quest is available after finishing The Ultimate Vessel quest. To start, teleport to Sentridge Harbor Control and you will see the golden quest mark on the NPC Samon.

The Seven Nopon Side Quest

The goal of this quest is to find and speak to seven Nopons that wield Ultimate Hammers. They are the keys to unlocking the ability to upgrade your weapons.

The first Nopon is in the Sage’s Garden. Enter the door on the right; inside it is Seekseek and Burrburr. You need the latter for this quest.

The second Nopon is in the Hillside Ferronis Hulk rest spot. You are then prompted to take to Panepane the merchant, who is also one of the seven Nopons in the quest.

The third Nopon is Gingin, and is found in his treehouselocated at the Low Maktha Wildwood. If this is your first time talking to him, you may need to complete a certain side quest before you can progress.

The next Nopon is Tempapa. The hero quest Culinary Repertoire is required  to interact with him about the Seven Nopon quest.

The fifth Nopon is Fixifixi. He is located at the Li Garte Prison Camp. Once you’ve completed the quest In Search of a Home, you can find him in a cell to the right of Cell #1 rest spot. Valdi must be in your party to interact with Fixifixi.

The last Nopon is Riku. Once all of the Nopons mentioned above are recruited, head to any resting spot to talk to him.

Get the Ultimate Hammer by having Riku and Manana in your party discuss “Seven Nopon” in any resting spot. The hammer is close to the Colony 9 Rear Gate.

This finishes the quest and unlocks weapon upgrades. You will need origin shards to upgrade your weapon.
