In Rune Factory 5, dating comes first over marriage, as it does in real life. You need to talk to your desired character frequently and give them their preferred gifts to improve your friendship level with them to seven.

As your relationship progresses, you must experience all of your partner’s Story Events. Thus, you must maintain track of the time, as skipping a date can be a setback. The final story event in the relationship can be seen once you have completed three successful dates.

The final steps are to ensure that the friendship level is at a 10, make the proposal, present the ring, and meet the following day for the ceremony at the pre-arranged location.
