Lies of P just got its Overture DLC shadow dropped, but you’ll need to put in a bit of effort to even be able to access it.
The Overture DLC requires you to reach a certain point in the main game’s story, for one. After all, that’s just where you need to be for the DLC’s story to make sense. Plus, it’s also at the point where P would be ready to fight the DLC enemies!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to easily access this DLC, both on new playthroughs and New Game+. Do be warned there will be some spoilers for Chapter 9 of the main game!
How To Access the DLC | Lies of P: Overture
To access the DLC, you’ll first need to complete the story up to the very end of Chapter 9. That means you’ll need to get to the point where you return to Hotel Krat and reactivate the central Stargazer in the hotel.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll get the new “Star’s Chrysalis” item in your inventory. You should also get a DLC notification pop-up at this point telling you to return to the Path of the Pilgrim area.
As a refresher, in case you haven’t played Lies of P in a while, the Path of the Pilgrim is the first area for Chapter 5 of the game. Just use the Hotel Krat Stargazer to teleport there.
After you teleport, you should see a cutscene start. This will show you that the Star’s Chrysalis is activating, creating a line of light. Follow the line and you’ll see it leads to a rusty golden Stargazer. Just approach the Stargazer and another cutscene will play, activating the Stargazer.
When the cutscene is done, you just need to press the “OK” prompt shown on the screen to be teleported to the Overture DLC starting area. Shout out to all the players who theorized that this Stargazer would be the DLC’s starting point! Some of you even guessed that long before Overture was officially announced, too.
What To Do If You’re In New Game+
Now, the bad news: if you’re already in a New Game+ playthrough you’ll need to play up to the end of Chapter 9 too. You do not get the Star’s Chrysalis from the start of the game, so you can’t just use the rusted Stargazer once you reach it in Chapter 5. Nope, you’ll instead need to play all the way up to the Hotel Krat return.
Sadly, there seems to be no real workaround for this as of this writing. We hope that a faster entry point is patched in for those of you eager to dive into Overture on a second playthrough. The fans are definitely requesting it heavily! However, there’s no official reply from the developers yet on this issue.
On the other hand, the Overture DLC update also added two new difficulties to the game. You can change them from the Gameplay settings at any time. So, we recommend switching to “Butterfly’s Guidance” on your New Game+ playthrough. It makes the game a lot easier, which should help you speed through to get up to Chapter 9.
When you finally do return to Hotel Krat in that chapter, just go into the settings and switch back to the standard “Legendary Stalker” difficulty and start the DLC. No shame in lowering difficulty, especially if it’s just to circumvent a developer oversight.
Nonetheless, that’s all you need to do to be able to access the new Overture DLC in Lies of P. Now you can explore all of the wonders, horrors, and challenges that Krat’s historied past has to offer in this DLC!
