Needless to say, this system is fun and rewarding, and it will easily make up almost half of your entire playthrough.
The problem is that it can be a bit confusing at first. This is especially true when it comes to looking for items that you want to synthesize. As such, we created this guide to help you out!

The idea behind synthesis is that each recipe you can synthesize comes with material loops that have their own requirements and values. Each material loop will have its own color which also helps determine its element.

Atelier Ryza 3: Which is the Best Overpowered WeaponMar 28, 2023That said, using high-quality materials allows you to fill up each material loop quickly. Now, the problem is that the materials you can add are fairly limited at first.
Also, when you synthesize an item, you might find out you’re missing certain items.
Luckily, there’s a way to work around it. For this example, we’ll be using the Ice Bomb item. As you can see from the image above, you are lacking certain materials to synthesize an Ice Bomb.
What you can do is press your left analog stick to bring up the related list of materials for the item. This will show you a list of related materials that you can use to synthesize it.
In this case, a related item you can use is Aqua Ore.
Select the alternative material, and you should be able to see a list of areas where you can obtain it. After that, all you have to do is head over to any of these areas and collect the material that you need.
Once you’re done, simply go back to your secret hideout to proceed with synthesizing the item.
