Operation Postman is an event mission that’s currently available in World of Tanks and allows you to unlock the Chaffee Camo tank.

This mission is available from May 6th to May 13th, 2025. It’s a pretty unique mission, as you have to play stealthily. Don’t let the hostiles find you as you roam the map and collect map pieces that reveal the nearby minefield’s layout. Then, use that intel to escape the area!

In this guide, we’ll give you tips and tricks to complete Operation Postman and get your free tank.

How to Unlock Chaffee Camo in Operation Postman | World of Tanks

To unlock the Chaffee Camo tank, you will first need to unlock the Rigorous Covert Op mode of Operation Postman. For that, you just need to complete the Regular mode first, which is unlocked by default.

Regular is more or less a tutorial of sorts on what Operation Postman works like. As such, it’s fairly simple and easy to complete. For the most part, you just need to follow Cpt. Smith’s instructions to avoid being detected by hostiles in this mode.

The main advice we can give you here is to make sure to stay in cover, be it behind buildings or inside bushes. If you get seen, quickly rush to a bush if possible, as it will reset the enemy’s vision. Also, make sure to send scouts to areas you need to move to. We also recommend using False Order to move hostiles away from you.

In case you get discovered, you’re free to engage in combat and attempt to destroy any hostiles who spot you. There’s no penalty or anything like that, but the Chaffee Camo isn’t a particularly great tank for combat. So, be careful if you do engage.

Aside from that, you just need to go to the yellow question marks on your map and scout them to reveal map piece capture points.

Then, approach the revealed capture points, which are marked by a green document icon and a green circle. Stand within the green circle for 7 seconds to capture the map piece.

Once you’ve collected 3 map pieces, follow the orange flag marker to exfil the area via the path through the southeastern minefield. Artillery will fire at you, avoid their shots while trying to avoid the minefield and escape!

With that done, you’ve cleared the first step of this challenge.

Rigorous Covert Op Basics

Now, you need to play the Rigorous Covert Op mode. This is a harder variant of the Operation Postman mode, but it allows you to unlock the Chaffee Camo for use in other World of Tanks game modes.

More specifically, you need to complete the Rigorous Covert Op without destroying any enemy vehicles. That effectively means that combat is not an option if you want the Chaffee Camo!

This mode works pretty much the same as the Standard one, but it’s harder. Some key differences are as follows:

  • There are a lot more patrols, including Elite patrols.
  • You need to collect 4 map pieces instead of 3.
  • Each map piece point takes 10 seconds to capture instead of 7.

The main problem in this mode is that there’s a lot of RNG involved, as well. Patrols often don’t behave the same way each run, and they can be oddly finicky. Sometimes they spot you when they shouldn’t, and sometimes they are surprisingly oblivious.

Keller points out the randomization

On top of that, the exact locations of the map pieces seem to be randomized. The capture points never change locations. However, not all capture points will give you map pieces when captured. Out of the 7 capturable points each run, 3 will randomly be chosen to not have map pieces.

Escaped

As an upside, you don’t need to actually go through the minefield at the end. Just collect all 4 map pieces, wherever they are, then enter the minefield’s route on the southeastern corner of the map. You’ll instantly get a victory screen as soon as you enter the path!

You can probably already tell the worst thing about this mode… it’s heavily luck-reliant. Sometimes you just get lucky, having convenient patrol routes and easy-to-get map pieces! Other times, you get unlucky and the opposite happens.

Other Tips and Tricks

Victory

Due to the randomization in this mode, the best thing you can do is take things slowly. Send a scout ahead as much as possible, and use the False Order ability whenever you can. Remember, point False Order where you want the patrols to go and they’ll move there. This makes them very easy to control, as long as you’re patient with the ability’s cooldown.

Castle Location | World of Tanks: How to Unlock Chaffee Camo in Operation Postman

With those general tips aside, the most notorious capture point during the Operation Postman Rigorous Covert Op is the one in the center of the map. It’s a castle with 3 Ferdinands stationed there, shown above. Due to being such a problem spot, we’ll give you tips for it.

The best way to get the capture point here is to rush right in through the main entrance on the northern end of the castle. Go straight ahead to the capture point and you’ll be able to hide behind the nearby building. The Ferdinands will spot you, but they’re immobile and can’t hit you.

Once you’ve captured the point, backtrack and go back to the north. Hide behind the broken wall by the entrance there.

Then, just exit through the main entrance and hide in the bushes there. You’ll lose the hostiles if you remain in the bushes for a moment. If you need to, you can also use False Order to move any nearby patrols out of the way.

With that final tip, you should now know everything you need to be able to unlock the Chaffee Camo tank in the Operation Postman mission in World of Tanks. Remember, this mission is only available until May 13th, so try to complete it before the time’s up if you want the rewards!
