In Victoria 3, there are four different types of goods. Namely, these are a staple, industrial, luxury, and military.

All these can be used by your people to support them in different aspects. Some will be used to feed the people, develop your economy, support and improve the military, and there are also some for the vices.

Providing the Needs

The first and basic use of your goods in Victoria 3 is to be given and distributed to the people to meet their needs in their everyday lives.

As you already know, each population, or pop as they call it in the game, has different needs. In order for them to meet their needs, they will buy goods that they need. Once they have enough supply to provide for their needs, the population will be richer and wealthier.

If the population becomes wealthy, they will be more productive, more resilient, and more loyal to the government.

Remember that certain groups of people treat some goods differently compared to others. This is affected by their traditions or cultures called the Obsessions and the Taboo.

For example, as shown in the picture, British people are naturally more into having tea, and Chinese into Opium. An example of a taboo is liquor and wine for Arabs.

Constructions

Another essential use of goods is to provide supplies for construction. Government buildings will be one of the first that you have to use goods for construction.

For each state, there will be two things that must be considered. These are the Arable Land and the Resource Potentials.

A state’s arable land refers to its maximum capacity for agriculture. In contrast, resource potential determines what or how much can be used from each natural resource. In short, you can only produce a high quantity of a certain good in a state with its resource potential.

You can also discover oil, gold, and rubber n your province. This will add them as resource potentials.

You can make it easier for you to find these resources by using certain technologies.

On the Goods Information Page, you can check the information on where a specific product’s resource potentials are, as well as the places where it is produced and consumed.

You can check this in the Market panel.
