Undecember is a Hack and Slash ARPG released October 11 in Steam. One of the strongest aspects of the game is in the build system, as it can get pretty complicated, but do not worry, we are here to explain.
In this guide, we’ll teach you about Skill Linking.
Whirlwind Build and Skill Link Guide in Undecember
Runes are the name skills have in Undecember, whether they are Physical, Ranged, or Magical ones. You win them com quests and other instances, and then have one you may select to equip it, which will take you to a kind of hexagon with a lot of spots where you may place your rune.
You should not put it down randomly.
Runes come in two types: the “normal” ones that are the skill themselves and link runes. Link runes are used to link to skill runes of a compatible type to provide further boss for the skill.
Basically, you want to eventually fill your hexagon with Rune Skills and fully connect with Link Skills everywhere to have the maximum power.
You can upgrade your Runes with a rune growth NPC. Selecting the rune you want to growth and picking materials for it – if the materials are of the same color of the Rune, it will gain extra XP, so try to pair your Runes with elements according to their color.
To make the process easier, the runes are color-coded, making it easier to identify which can link to which, and clicking on a rune will highlight the spots where you can place it to connect, as well as telling you which Runes from your inventory can be linked to one already on your board.
It’s sort of tetris-like if you think about it and part of the fun of getting a great build.
Whirlwind Build
One example of something you can do with Rune Links is linking the Whirlwind rune to a Spell Activation one.
When you are Channeling (i.e, spinning) the rune linked to the Spell Activation will trigger, giving you both the damage of the Whirlwind and any spell you put in there!
This is on top of linking other runes to the spell, which will be linked to whirlwind, like so:
This is what we meant by making builds getting fun and complicated. You can try our combo, or you can try to find your own. Go out there and link all your runes, and if you can, make a fully linked hexagon!
