Undecember: How to Farm Magic Skill Rune and Link Rune Upgrade Essence

Skill Runes and Link Runes are two important items in Undecember that you’ll need to further strengthen your character’s combat power. As their names imply, Skill Runes grant you access to skills whereas Link Runes allow you to strengthen a skill’s combat potency or embed it with new effects.

That said, you can only get a handful of these essences during your campaign. Moreover, you can only start with normal Skill Runes, so your next best option is to upgrade them to Magic rarity.

Since the amount of Magic Skill Rune and Link Rune Essences you can get are pretty limited, you’re better off just farming them. That’s what we’re going to cover in this guide.

How to Farm Magic Skill Rune and Link Rune Upgrade Essence in Undecember

For this method, you’re not actually “farming” the essences. Instead, what you should do is create a new character. Then, in that new character, you need to progress a bit through the campaign, specifically all the way up to Act 2.

Once you’re in Act 2, all you need to do is talk to NPC Christen. After a brief dialogue, he will then give you guaranteed rewards which include 5 Minor Earth Element and a Skill Rune Magic Upgrade Essence. Then, simply deposit the item into your stash.

Since the stash is shared across all characters, you can then take it out on your main character. Now, you can also craft gear in your main character and put them into the stash for your alt to use. This will make it easier to progress through the first two acts of the game.

As for the Link Rune Magic Upgrade Essence, you need to craft it in the Alchemy table. All you need to do is click on the Essence tab. Then, look for it on the list of items you can craft. To craft it, you’ll need the following materials:

• 1 Skill Rune Magic Upgrade Essence
• 10 Rune Birth Essence
• 50 Rune Color Essence
• 50 Rune Link Essence

You can buy all of the other essences from Ore Collector Joyce. Just take note that they’re quite expensive. So if you don’t want to spend currency, you can farm them by progressing the story instead.

As long as you have all of the materials, you can simply click on the Craft button to obtain the Link Rune essence.
