Undecember: Beginner Gear Crafting Guide

As with most action RPGs, Undecember also features a crafting system that lets you create your own gear. As you progress through the game, you will need to update your gear in order to keep up with the level of monsters you encounter.

That is why if you need to tackle the game’s content, you need to learn how to craft gear. In this guide, I’ll show you how to do just that.

Beginner Gear Crafting Guide in Undecember

Unlike most RPGs, however, crafting in Undecember is pretty much like that of Path of Exile. Basically, you’ll need certain currencies to add modifiers to an item, change its rarity, etc. In Undecember, you will come across materials or currencies called Essences which you need to craft an item.

Now, there are various types of Essences in the game. There are Rune Essences that you use to alter various aspects of your gear such as slot positions, slot colors, item rarity, and more.

Then there are Gear Crafting Essences which, as the name implies, allow you to craft gear. This is what we’ll be focusing on for this guide. As you can see, there are various Gear Crafting Essences that you can obtain as you play the game. Then again, each of them has its own unique feature, and they’re mainly used to craft gear.

Gear Crafting from Normal to Magic

First off, you need to decide what type of gear you want to craft. Then, you also need to determine which stats you need to have on that gear. For example, we’ll be going for a bow this time. To start, you’ll want to use a normal bow as your base. You can then head over to the Blacksmith to start crafting.

For this one, you need to convert your Normal bow to a Magic rarity one using the Magic Upgrade Essence. Simply click on the specified essence and then click Enchant. This will convert the item to Magic rarity and add a random modifier to that item.

If that modifier isn’t something you need, then you can replace it by simply pressing the Enchant button once more. Keep doing so until you find the modifier that you need. After that, the next step is to add a second modifier. This time, you’ll be needing the Magic Imbue Essence.

Then, once you’re satisfied with the second modifier, you can then add a third modifier using the Magic Expansion Essence. However, if you’re not happy with the results, you can use the Magic Birth Essence to reroll the modifiers and replace them with new ones.

Just keep in mind that it will randomize the number of modifiers that are added. In some cases, it will add two-three modifiers while in some instances, it will only add one.

If you’re happy with the first two modifiers, you can simply add one more using the Magic Imbue Essence. If you’re lucky enough, then you can proceed to the next step. But if not, then simply go back and reroll the modifiers once again.

Gear Crafting from Magic to Rare

After you have the modifiers you need, you have the option to reroll their values. This is an important part of min-maxing your gear, and you can do this using the Magic Chance Essence. You have the option to view the range of modifier values for your gear so you can decide whether to reroll them or not.

With your magic bow now ready, it’s time to convert it to Rare rarity using the Rare Upgrade Essence. Doing so will convert your bow to Rare and add another random modifier for a total of four. Then, the same rules apply as when you’re crafting the bow from Normal to Magic.

If you’re lucky, you might end up with a stronger Rare gear that has all of the modifiers you’re looking for. However, do keep in mind that Rare Essences are a bit harder to find, so make sure to use them properly.
