John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando has four classes and all of them cap out at level 40, which means a lot of grinding if you plan on maxing more than one. The good news is that a couple of missions are significantly better for farming XP than anything else in the game, and knowing which one to run and on what difficulty cuts the grind down considerably.
In this guide, I will cover the most efficient XP farming method in the game right now so you can level any class faster without spending more time than you need to on missions that simply do not pay off as well. Without further ado, let’s get started!
Best XP Farming Methods to Level Up Any Class Fast
The best missions to farm XP faster are Deliver Us and The Pit, both of which are available in the ACT 3. I recommend playing them on the hard difficulty to get that sweet 2X XP multiplier. You can expect to earn up to 30K XP each run by playing these missions, which is the most efficient way to go about leveling up your classes.
However, you can also play them on very hard difficulty for a bit more XP, but that will increase the time it takes to finish the mission. Do this when you have maxed out weapons, a good team to play with and are looking for a bit of challenge.
The reason for recommending these missions is pretty simple. There are hordes and hordes of zombies to kill, all jammed up tight in compact areas, which makes killing them a breeze. This way you are constantly getting a lot of XP every minute of the mission.
Best Weapon
The weapon that I found the most helpful for these missions is the ACW-20 grenade launcher. This thing packs a punch! With those grenades, you can take out a cluster of zombies together with minimal effort.
If you do not have the ACW-20, then I recommend sticking with a weapon that has a quick fire rate like an automatic assault rifle or an SMG. One more tip: if your weapon is of low level, then I highly recommend leveling it up first by playing on easy or normal difficulty. Higher difficulties only give extra class XP, so it is not recommended to play them with an under leveled weapon.
Tips for Each Class to Maximize XP Gain
Here are some tips and abilities for each class that you should constantly use during the missions to get some extra XP:
- The Striker: Make good use of the Power Spike ability to kill a ton of zombies in one swoop.
- The Medic: Pretty straightforward, heal as many allies as you can to gain extra XP.
- The Operator: The Lancer ability is very useful to rack up a bunch of zombie kills quickly.
- The Defender: The best ability to have here is the Barrier Dome which not only protects you and your teammates, it also takes care of zombies trying to rush you.
Deliver Us
Out of the two missions I mentioned, Deliver Us is the most efficient way of farming XP. There are two main events that will give you a ton of XP. One happens near the middle of the map where you have to Defend The Control Room. This is where you will get to mow down tons of zombies for huge XP gains.
The other event is at the end of the mission where you have to protect the Godard’s Church. The game will be generous enough to give you free supplies, auto turrets and gear as well here. Set up all the auto turrets on the balcony and start gunning down hordes of zombies attacking the church.
The Pit
The Pit mission is a good alternative to Deliver Us. If you get bored of playing Deliver Us, then start grinding XP here. There are three events to look out for that happen in quick succession in the drilling site where you have to Defend the God-Killer Truck. You will get plenty of zombies to easily kill here for a massive XP gain.
There is also a vehicle section in this mission. If possible, drive the vehicle yourself to get XP when you drive over zombies. Later on, when you have to fight the boss in this mission, you will have to face even more waves of zombies. There is plenty of XP to be had there as well.
Wrapping Up
That covers the most efficient ways to farm XP and level up every class in John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. Deliver Us and The Pit are miles ahead of anything else in the game for grinding. With the right weapon and class abilities in play, the runs go by faster than you would expect.
Hard difficulty gives you that sweet XP multiplier without dragging out the mission too long and with the ACW-20 clearing out tight zombie clusters like it is nothing, you will be racking up XP faster than you might think. It is still a grind at the end of the day, but at least now you are spending that time in the right places.
