Mutated Xilence is an optional boss you fight during the “Final Conquest” Bonus Mission in The First Berserker: Khazan.
If you pay attention, you might realize this boss is actually a repeat of a previous boss in the game. Everything that applied to the original fight applies here, as well. That said, there are some notable differences that you need to be aware of if you wish to emerge victorious!
Read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know to defeat Mutated Xilence.
How to Beat Mutated Xilence | The First Berserker: Khazan – Boss Guide
Before we start, we want to note that Mutated Xilence is effectively just a reskin of Viper’s second phase. As such, nearly everything we mentioned in our Viper boss guide still applies. There are only a few differences between both fights.
First, let’s get the minor differences out of the way. Mutated Xilence is somewhat slower and clunkier than Viper is, overall. Watch out so that the slower attack timing doesn’t trip you up!
Also, the arena is always covered in darkness, making visibility poor. However, unlike Viper, Mutated Xilence doesn’t take advantage of the darkness by hiding himself. Mutated Xilence will always try to stay close to you, instead of playing hide and seek!
Those minor changes aside, there’s one major difference that doubles as a gimmick for this fight when compared to Viper. Figuring that gimmick out is the key to victory, so let us detail it for you.
Watch Out For The Horns
As you might’ve noticed by now, Mutated Xilence is almost completely impervious to damage at first. Your attacks will even bounce back and leave you exposed if you hit him! To be able to deal damage, you must first strike the horns atop Xilence’s head. This is easiest to do when the boss has his head closer to the ground after slam attacks.
It’s also worth noting that the Greatsword and Dual Wield weapons have an easier time hitting the horns than Spears, thanks to their wider attack motions. If you’re a Spear user, we recommend trying to use Moonlight and Full Moon as much as possible to hit the horns.
With that said, you just need to continue hitting Mutated Xilence’s head as much as possible. Eventually, the horns will break and the boss will take a massive amount of damage. This usually leaves him with just around 20% to 25% of his Health left. What’s more, he’ll also be stunned for a brief period to allow you to deal extra damage!
From this point on, you can deal damage normally and don’t need to focus on the head anymore. Also, the darkness covering the arena will dissipate, improving visibility. Essentially, he’s now just a weaker and slower Viper. Just don’t get reckless and finish him off. You basically have this one in the bag!
So, there you have it. That’s how to beat the Mutated Xilence boss fight in The First Berserker: Khazan. Break those horns and you’re all set.
