Some of the most complicated puzzles you can find in the game are the ones related to time gates. On top of knowing what to do, these puzzles also add a time constraint to them. This adds quite a lot to the difficulty.

In this guide, we will look at how you can solve the different time-gate puzzles you can find in The Sacred Archives.

How to Solve the Time Gate Puzzles

In total, you will find 4 different time gate puzzles in The Sacred Archives. We will be looking at how to solve all 4 of them. Doing one puzzle will open the portal for the next one until you finish all 4.

Time Gate puzzles

The time gate puzzles require you to solve the puzzles in a very unique and interesting way. It is quite similar to the water wheel puzzle, but there are some timings involved.

Once you enter the puzzle room, you will see a stone statue. This statue will have 3 identical people carved on them. To start the puzzle you will have to interact with the statue.

The 4 different puzzles require you to utilize 3 different runs. You will have to do 3 different things in each run. Each of your runs will be captured using shadows of yourself. After the time of the first run is done, you will start your next one.

Puzzle #1

The first puzzle is the simplest one. It introduces you to this mechanic and is meant to help you better understand it. For this puzzle, you will have 4 seconds for each run. This is more than enough as the steps in this puzzle are quite simple.

Puzzle 1

For your first run in this puzzle, you will just have to climb to the lever to the left indicated by the red arrow above. Just wait here for the time to run out

You will then have to do the same for the second run, but now with the lever to the right

Your last run will simply allow you to pick up the tablet. This is indicated by the blue arrow in the image.

Puzzle #2

Puzzle 2

The second puzzle is a bit more complicated and requires you to do something a bit different. In this puzzle, you will have to utilize your ability to leave a clone in one run and travel to it in the next one. You will have 8 seconds for each run.

First run puzzle 2

For your first run, you will have to first climb up after activating the statue. After climbing up you will see a drop down (seen in the image above). After going down you will go back up again using the walls to jump off of them.

Leave a clone

Once you climb up, you have to leave a clone of yourself to teleport to later. You will teleport to this clone as soon as you start your second run.

Utilizing the pole

From here you can easily just utilize the pole to your right and make your way to the other side. Over there you will find a pressure plate, as indicated in the image above. Stay here until the time runs out for your second run.

Tablet 2

Your third run will be to pick up the tablet. This tablet will be found in a room just below the platform with the pressure plate.

Puzzle #3

Third puzzle

The third time gate puzzle will give you even more time and this time you will have to be very smart with your time management. For this puzzle, you will have 12 seconds for each run.

Lever and pressure plate

For your first run, you will first make your way to the switch to your right. You will remain on this switch till the timer is about to hit 4 seconds. After that, you will leave the lever and end up on the pressure plate indicated by the arrow above. You will remain on this pressure plate till the time runs out.

The lever

What you did in the first run will give you access to the lever indicated in the picture above. For this run, you will just have to climb on this lever and stay there till the timer runs out.

Last run puzzle 3

For your last run, you will now just need to climb to the top using the walls and platforms that open up from your first 2 runs. It’s important to remember that the platforms will change due to you doing 2 different things in the first run.

Puzzle #4

Hardest puzzle

The last puzzle is probably the hardest of the bunch. You get 13 seconds now for each run, but this run requires you to be very precise with your time.

Starting the puzzle

Starting the puzzle, for your first run you need to make your way down from the statue where you activated the puzzle and stand on the pressure plate as indicated above. When the timer is closing 6, step off the plate for just a second and step back onto it. This is important for later.

Platform going up

The pressure plate from the first run will give you access to the platform in the image above. The platform will allow you to go up. Before going up make sure you place a clone here to teleport to for your last run.

Waiting for the timer

Once up, you will find a switch that you must interact with and activate. you can just wait for the timer to run out so you can start your last run.

Last run

The last run requires you to be very precise with your timings. In this you will first go down and to where the pressure plate was and wait.

Based on when you stepped off the pressure plate on your first run, you will teleport to your clone as soon as you see your shadow from the first run step off the pressure plate. This will allow you to end up on the platform as seen in the image above.

Last tablet

After that, you need to simply climb above and you will get to the fourth and last tablet.

These puzzles involving time are difficult, but they are also a lot of fun.
