How to Get Kalguuran Gems
To get Kalguuram Gems, you’ll need to find Ezomyte Remnants. These randomly spawn on maps and allow you to select various Runeshape Combinations.

PoE 2 Return of the Ancients: How to Craft S-Tier ItemsJun 10, 2026Generally speaking, you get better rewards from selecting the longer Runeshape Combinations. On the downside, that also means you’ll need to fend off stronger foes to complete the encounter and claim your rewards.
Some of the potential rewards you might encounter as a selection are the Kalguuran Gems. These can show up as saying something like “Skill: Bitter Dead,” for example. There are 21 Skills and 7 Supports possible.
That said, do note that not all of them will be available from the get-go. They are, after all, limited by the Runeshape Combinations you know.
You’ll learn more Runeshape Combinations as you progress through the campaign and complete specific quests. The game will tell you where to look if you encounter an undiscovered combination, too.
Either way, make sure to look out for any combination that rewards you with “Skill” or “Support.” Those are the ones that give you Kalguuran Gems!
How Kalguuran Skill Gems Work
Once you’ve obtained a Kalguuran Gem, you’ll gain access to its skill. For the most part, they can be used like any other skill in the game.
However, unlike regular skills, these Kalguuran Gems use your Runic Ward instead. It’s the rune-shaped gauge on your health. To know more about it, check out our guide on Runeforging and Runic Ward.
The gist of it, however, is that you’ll need to meet a new NPC named Farrow at Clearfell in Act 1. Follow his quest to unlock Runeforging, which allows you to add a Runic Ward to your defensive gear.
While the Runic Ward generally acts as an extra source of damage mitigation, Kalguuran skills will spend Runic Ward instead of Mana or other resources. Keep that in mind!
Additionally, Kalguuran skills have no attribute limitations or anything of the sort. They can be freely used by any class, so they can be quite useful.
