Palworld’s biggest patch yet, the Sakurajima update brings loads of new things to Palworld. One of the most important additions to the game is the Oil Rig, a heavily guarded Stronghold in the middle of the ocean.

The Oil Rig is probably the most challenging locations to get to due to its heavy defenses. It is extremely worth it though, as the Oil Rig contains some of the best and rarest loot in the game.

So how exactly do you get to the Oil Rig?

How to Get to the Oil Rig

The location for the Oil Rig on the map.

The Oil Rig in this game can be found a little bit to the east of Marsh Island. The map above shows the exact location of the Oil Rig. To get to the Oil Rig, you can fast travel to the east most fast travel point on Marsh Island. This is the closest fast travel point to the Oil Rig.

As the Oil Rig is in the middle of the ocean, you will need to use either a flying Pal or a Pal that can swim.

Oil Rig Defenses

Other than a large number of enemies on the Oil Rig, the Stronghold also has lasers that shoot down anything that comes close to the rig. These lasers do extremely high damage, and you and your Pal will both take significant damage if hit.

Using a flying Pal to get to the Oil RIg.

Flying is going to be the fastest way to get there, but as soon as you get a little bit close to the rig, the lasers will start shooting at you. There are multiple lasers on the Oil Rig, and if they all start shooting simultaneously, it will be very hard to avoid them.

The orange glow that lasers show when they are about to fire.

The laser will show you an indicator as it is about to fire. You will want to look out for a slight orange glow from the laser. This can be seen in the image above. Once the laser shows this indicator, it will shoot the beam at the location you were in when the orange glow appeared.

You can also use water based Pals that have the ability to swim to get to the Oil Rig. In terms of safety, a swimming Pal is going to be much better, as the lasers on the Oil Rig don’t target swimming Pals.

You can get to the base of the Oil Rig and start clearing the rig from there.

Once you get to the Oil Rig, you can start clearing the enemies and looting the chests. The Oil Rig in this game is a location that you will need to come back to again and again. All the enemies and loot on the Oil Rig will automatically respawn after a few in-game days have passed.

Some of the most valuable items that you can find on the Oil Rig are Dog Coins. Dog Coins are a completely new currency in Palworld that lets you buy some very unique items. Check out our guide on how to get Dog Coins and where to spend them for more on that.
