The Sakurajima update for Palworld brings an all-new map to the game. Alongside new challenges and resources, the update also introduces a bunch of new Pals that you can catch and add to your collection of Pals.

One of the coolest and most unique Pals introduced in the update is Mimog. Mimog is a dog-like chest that you can either kill or capture. It is a pretty useful Pal to have, as having Mimog alongside you will let you open chests without a key.

How to Catch Mimog

Mimog can be found in most locations of the new map.

Mimog is a pretty common Pal on the new map and can be found in most locations on the map. While finding Mimog is easy, catching it is a completely different challenge.

Mimog will be stationary when found in the wild

When you find Mimog in the wild, it will always be in a sleeping position. This can be seen in the image above. Mimog will stay stationary as long as you don’t attack it, but as soon as you attack Mimog, it will run away extremely rapidly. Once a Mimog starts running, it is nearly impossible to catch it.

the Ultimate Sphere crafting recipe

The best way to capture Mimog is by using the Ultimate Sphere. When it comes to capturing Pals, no Sphere really compares to the Ultimate Sphere, as it gives you the best chance of capturing a Pal. You can also reliably capture Pals with the Ultimate Sphere when the Pals are full health.

So for Mimog, you can throw the Ultimate Sphere on Mimog while it is stationary and capture it that way. Of course, there’s a small probability that Mimog evades capture even when using an Ultimate Sphere.

Crafting the Ultimate Sphere requires you to have a Technology level of 51 and Sphere Assembly Line 2. You will also need the following materials

  • 20x Paldium Fragments
  • 10x Pal Metal Ingot
  • 5x Carbon Fiber
  • 1x Plasteel

Alternative Ways of Catching Mimog

If you don’t have Ultimate Spheres or don’t want to use them on Mimog, you can use Spheres with lower Capture Power. Using these Spheres will first require you to weaken the Pal by damaging it a bit. The biggest issue lies in Mimog instantly running away when you attack it.

Mimog trapped while sleeping

A very cool way of capturing Mimog is by placing walls all around it while it is sleeping. Attacking Mimog when it is trapped will ensure it doesn’t move, allowing you to carefully bring it close to 1 HP. Once its HP is low enough, you can throw any Sphere you want to capture the Pal.

Alternatively, you can also stagger Mimog for a short duration using heavy attacks. This will give you enough time to perform the attack and then throw a Sphere at it. If that Sphere doesn’t capture Mimog though, the Pal will most probably get away. For this method, it is important that you don’t use attacks that do too much damage or have debuffs that can deal damage over time.

Once you capture Mimog, you can use it alongside you when exploring the map. The Pal is very useful when it comes to opening chests as you don’t need a key for chests when Mimog is beside you.

Capturing Mimog will also get you an all new in game currency called Dog Coin. You can learn more about getting Dog Coin in Palworld and its uses by checking out our guide on it.
