No Man’s Sky Omega: How to Get the New S-Class Dreadnought

No Man’s Sky has just come out with its newest update, Omega. The update adds a lot to the game, with one of the coolest additions being a new S-Class Dreadnought. The best part though, is that you can make these Dreadnoughts your own.

Our guide looks at the quickest and easiest way to get your very own S-Class Dreadnought. Having your own Dreadnought allows you to use it to your liking and also customize it any way you want.

How to Get the New S-Class Dreadnought

S-Class Dreadnought’s can be found inside Pirate Systems. Once you enter a Pirate System, you will most of the times be able to see the Dreadnought right in front of you. To find a S rank Dreadnought, you will need to repeat this process until you find the S-Class Dreadnought.

Once you find the right one, you will need to take down various parts of the Dreadnought before you can make it surrender. S-Class is generally used to indicate the highest tier of an item in No Man’s Sky. You can also get other S-tier gear in the game like Multitools.

Finding the Dreadnought

The best way to find Dreadnoughts is by going to Pirate Controlled systems. You will be able to tell if a system is Pirate Controlled by checking out its conflict level. Dreadnoughts are much more common in these systems than other ones.

Once you enter the system you choose, the Dreadnought should be right in front of you. If you don’t find a Dreadnought in front of you, you will need to go back and choose another Pirate Controlled system.

Boarding the Dreadnought

To take control of a Dreadnought, you will need to board it and confront the captain. Before you do this though, you will first need to weaken the Dreadnought and put it into a position of surrender.

Start by taking out the ships shield generators. These are located on the top of the Dreadnought, inside a small opening. You can take these generators out by shooting at them.

Next, you will need to deal with the Dreadnoughts Warp Drives. The Warp Drives are located at the back of the ship, as seen in the image above. Shoot at these Warp Drives to destroy them. Doing this disables the ship from escaping.

The last thing you will need to do before you are able to board the ship is destroy its defense weapons. There are multiple on the ship and destroying these is essential, as the captain will not surrender if they are still active.

Having defeated the Pirate Dreadnought, you can now finally board it. Inside the ship, the first thing you need to do is check if the ship is in the highest rank. You can do this by using the Analysis mode through your Visor.

If the Dreadnought is not an S-Class Dreadnought, exit the Dreadnought and leave the system you are in. Going back to the system again will respawn the Dreadnought. Keep repeating the full process until you find the Dreadnought you are looking for.

This whole thing might take you a lot of tries and does take some time. It is still probably the fastest way to get a S-Class Dreadnought. There’s a lot of RNG to this process, so if you really want to get your hands on that Dreadnought, you will need to be patient.

Claiming the Dreadnought

All that is left to do now is for you to seize the Dreadnought. Make your way to the captain of the ship and interact with them to take control of the ship.

Once you claim your new S-Class Dreadnought, you will now have control over it. Dreadnoughts are a part of the Freighter class of ships, making them extremely useful and valuable.
