No Man’s Sky recently released a huge new update, which of course introduced a ton of content to the game, including more places to explore and mechanics to further improve the overall experience. In this guide, we will be going over how you can start searching for gas giants, which are among the new planet types added with the latest update.
How to Find Gas Giants | Worlds Part II Update
Long story short, you can start looking for gas giants by first unlocking purple systems. To get started with this, you will need to go through the In Stellar Multitudes quest, which is something you can start doing after meeting certain conditions, such as completing various other quest lines.
For more information, check out our guide on how to find purple systems, among other things. Basically, once you can start looking for and exploring purple systems, all you need to do from there is check each of them in the galactic map until you find one with the “Gas Giant” label.
That is really all we know at the moment as players are still figuring out how exactly the new stuff works. Some claim that they have found gas giants outside of purple systems, though this has been purely anecdotal and likely false.
One tip some people have pointed out is to specifically pin certain materials, such as Crystallised Helium. Outside of that, it is (currently) purely just a matter of searching for them in the galactic map.
Eventually, methods to further simplify the search might pop up, or mods might just fix this issue entirely if you do not mind using some of those. Now get out there and start your search, or continue with the game’s quests if you are still a long way away from unlocking the required systems!
