No Man’s Sky continues to put out some massive content updates, and Worlds Part II is the latest installment in their long line of free and chunky patches. Underneath the long patch notes and a whole lot of flashy new stuff, they also added an archiving mechanic that lets you store both ships and multi-tools. Here is how to make use of this new mechanic!
How to Archive Ships and / or Multi-Tools | Worlds Part II
For multi-tools, all you need to do is build a Weapon Rack. This is, as you would expect, a storage space that lets you insert upto18items. All you need to do to use it is to interact with the rack and select whichever tools you want to put in it.
That is all there is to it, plain and simple. Any multi-tool that you store in the rack will also keep all of its installed technology. Visually, the storage unit does not change regardless of what is in it, but aesthetics aside, it is a very useful addition that lets you collect even more weapons!
As for the ship archiving mechanic, just go to the fleet management terminal of your freighter. From there, you will have an option to “Manage Starship Archive”. From here, you will have almost the exact same UI as the weapon rack, so we are sure you can understand how it works from here.
The only thing to note is that stored ships, just like multi-tools, will keep any technology thatisinstalled in them. However, loose cargo will be lost forever, so make sure that your ships do not have anything useful stored in them before you archive them!
This mechanic will let you collect even more ships than before, and you can archive up to 18 ships. This gives you a total of 30 ships worth of space if we include your active fleet.
And that is everything you need to know when it comes to this new feature! This change has been an amazing one for collectors, as you can now hoard even more multi-tools and ships. Now if only they would let us archive freighters too…
Franco is a writer and avid gamer who spends a lot of his free time looking for the next obscure indie roguelike to add to his collection. If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
