Ninja Gaiden 2 Black features a bunch of costumes and character outfits you can unlock for all of the main characters in the game.
Some of these costumes are brand new and just meant to look cool. Others are nice throwbacks to other games, such as the original classic Ninja Gaiden and Dead Or Alive. There are a lot of cool options for costumes, but you’ll need to earn the right to wear them!
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to unlock all of the costumes and outfits for every character in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.
How To Get All Costumes | Ninja Gaiden 2 Black: All Characters Outfits
There are, all in all, a total of 13 costumes and character outfits for you to choose from in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Ryu Hayabusa, as the protagonist, gets 4 costumes all for himself. Momiji, Ayane, and Rachel all get 3 costumes each.
Now, a lot of the costumes are simply unlocked by beating the game. However, you should know that the Hero Play Style mode does not unlock any costumes. Keep that in mind if you’re seeking to unlock every single one of these outfits!
With that said, let’s go over all of the unlockable costumes in the game and how to get them for each character.
Ryu Hayabusa
Legendary Black Falcon – This is the default starting costume, so you have it from the get-go. It’s Ryu Hayabusa’s classic Ninja Gaiden 2 look.
Ninja Gaiden – You get this costume by completing the game on Acolyte (Normal) difficulty or higher. This is a nice throwback, as it’s based on Ryu’s design during the original classic era of Ninja Gaiden. It’s almost been 40 years since then… time sure flies, huh?
Dragon Muscles – Complete 10 Tag Missions. For this one, it seems like any 10 Tag Missions will do. We recommend doing the Path of the Acolyte Tag Missions as they are the easiest ones. We also recommend picking Rachel as your ally during the missions, as she’s the strongest one.
Fiend Hayabusa – To get his one, complete the game on Master Ninja difficulty. This is the highest difficulty in the game and it only becomes available after you already beat the game once. It’s going to put your skills to the test, so be ready before you take this one on!
Momiji
Shrine Maiden Ninja – Momiji’s default starting outfit. She has this from the start, so you don’t need to unlock it.
Monk Robes – Complete the game on Mentor (Very Hard) or Master Ninja difficulty. We highly recommend saving this for a second playthrough unless you’re confident in your Ninja Gaiden 2 skills! Since these difficulties are quite tough, you should make sure to collect every Jewel of the Demon Seal to power up your Ninpo Spells.
Indigo-Dyed Happi – Get Master Ninja Rank a total of 5 times in Chapter Challenges. This mode becomes available as you clear Chapters in the story. You’re given a rank at the end of every Chapter in the Chapter Challenger mode, with Master Ninja being the highest. In essence, this is a Chapter Select mode which lets you replay Chapters freely while also scoring your performance.
To get Master Ninja, you have to make sure to kill every enemy as fast as possible and gather as much Essence as possible. You’ll also get bonuses for using Ultimate Techniques, Obliteration Techniques, combos, and instantly killing enemies. In summary, be swift and be lethal like a true Master Ninja!
Rachel
Natural Up – Rachel’s default fit, what she has from the start of the game. You don’t need to do anything to unlock it.
Business Suit – Complete the game on Mentor (Very Hard) or Master Ninja difficulty. As we’ve mentioned before, this is a challenge so we recommend saving it for replays.
Demon’s Vacation – Get Master Ninja Rank a total of 10 times in Chapter Challenges. As we explained before for Momiji, this means you need to get the Master Ninja rank at the end of 10 Chapters while playing the Chapter Challenge mode. That might seem like a lot, but the game has 17 chapters in total.
If you want, you can try completing the same Chapter on multiple difficulties. Each difficulty counts separately, so it allows you to stack Master Ninja Ranks in chapters you’re comfortable with. Of course, this is easiest when you unlock the Chapter Select menu by beating the game once.
Ayane
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 – Ayane’s default outfit and the same one she had back in the original Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. You get this by simply starting the game!
Ninja Gaiden Sigma – Complete the game on Mentor (Very Hard) or Master Ninja difficulty. Clearing these difficulties is quite a challenge, but it might be worth it if you prefer Ayane’s outfit in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1!
Dead or Alive 5 – Complete 20 Tag Missions. You can clear any 20 Tag Missions you want, so we recommend focusing on the easiest ones first. If you need help with these missions, we again recommend bringing Rachel as your ally. She’s widely considered the strongest one and can make this challenge a lot less daunting.
So, there you have it, that’s all of the costumes and outfits for every character in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black! Unlocking them all is going to require some effort, particularly with the ones requiring higher difficulties. Nonetheless, at least now you know what needs to be done!
